Tea at Canterbury
St. John's hosted a tea for our Canterbury residents following the regular Wednesday Eucharist that we celebrate there each week. Thanks to all who attended!
From the Kitchen
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the behind-the-scenes folks that worked tirelessly to create another successful Lenten Dinner Series.  Along with this year's Lenten weekly trio consisting of Nicholas Nitch, Kari Power, and Yvonne Santiago, and our other dedicated adults,  Suzanne Arthur and  Mary Greacen, we  were blessed with a great set up crew who came every week - they sacrificed their time joyfully and even came to me asking if they could join our crew.  If you see them, share a moment with these two wonderful children, Jeremiah and Gwendolyn, who came every week ... didn't complain ... polished silverware, set up the tables, carried, fetched and helped work on the cold food side of things.  The most powerful aspect of their service to me was they volunteered!

Chef Dave

And Fr. Connelly extends a HUGE thanks to Chef Dave himself for his dedication and time feeding the hearts, souls, and bodies of the people of our Parish during Lent and all year round!
Join Us Tomorrow Night for the Maundy Thursday Vigil
Jesus asked his disciples to keep awake while he prayed to his father in the garden of Gethsemane on that first Maundy Thursday.  Following the emotional and powerful Maundy Thursday liturgy on Thursday evening, which includes both the foot washing and the stripping of the altar, the Blessed Sacrament is moved to the chapel altar to remain in repose until the morning of Good Friday.  As is our custom, parishioners sign up for one hour blocks of time throughout the night and this opportunity is open to all who wish to spend some quiet and reflective time with Christ in a very special way.  Please contact Nicholas Nitch at nicholasnitch@gmail.com if you would like to sign up for a particular hour of the watch.
Adult Christian Formation
Save the Date: Annual Women's Retreat May 4 and 5 at Dayspring
The 2018 Women's Retreat will be held at Dayspring Conference Center on Friday evening and Saturday, May 4 and 5.  Our theme this year is The Friendship of Women.  A limited number of overnight spaces are available for those who wish to attend the Friday evening session.  All are welcome to attend the all-day program on Saturday.  Details will follow soon.  For more information, contact Deacon Kathleen at kmoore@stjohnstampa.org or 785.9400.
Mid Morning Women's Bible Study
Deacon Kathleen Moore will guide the Mid Morning Women's Bible Study in a reading of Genesis 37:5 - 38:30, "The Joseph Saga Begins, " on Tuesday, April 3.  The group meets on alternate Tuesdays, 10:15 to 11:30 a.m., in the Church Sanctuary.

They invite you to consider joining them even if you have not attended previously. Each chapter of Genesis is rich in themes and teaching that inform our Christian journey.  The study guide they are using is "Genesis for Everyone, Part 2" by John Goldingay, which is available from Amazon and other booksellers.  If you have questions, please contact Joan McKay at MCKAYJHM@aol.com or Pat Wilson at patwilson68@tampabay.rr.com.

St. John's EYC Mission Dinner: Chattanooga Choo Choo
St John's EYC is sponsoring a Mission Fundraiser Dinner on Sunday, April 15 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall to help with expenses for the upcoming Mission Trip to Chattanooga (June 2 through 9)! Each Mission Trip youth personally selected eight to ten families that they would like to invite, and the invitations go out this week!

We invite you and your family to join us on April 15  for a yummy meal, and a quick Youth Mission presentation. Near the end of the event, each family will receive an envelope with a profile of a St John's Youth "Mission Tripper", as well as a number from 1 to 50. The profile will be your family's Prayer Partner-a Youth that you can pray for before, during, and after the trip, and the number is the dollar amount that we ask that you will donate to our cause (from $1 to $50). We pray that you can attend and participate with us!

Please bring cash or check to the dinner for your Mission Trip donation. RSVP by Sunday, April 8  by calling the parish offices at 259.1570 or contacting Youth Minister Ayana Grady at agrady@stjohnstampa.org. God bless!

"I want to go this Mission Trip because I love helping people...I've also never been on a Mission Trip before, and look forward to it because I know it will be a blast and I will get a chance to help many kids. Lastly, I want to go on the Mission Trip because I saw the videos of the past trips...and the kids came back with heart touching experiences."

Hospital Visitation

We want to provide support during your time of need! However, because health regulations prohibit the clergy from being informed when our parishioners are in the hospital, we will not know if you or someone you love is there unless you tell us. We want to provide support in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or  click here to email us to let us know when you need us.
