Start your spring cleaning now! The annual Pearce Mission Garage Sale will take place on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28. The gym will be overflowing with antiques, furniture, clothes, books....you name it, you can probably find it there!  Donations for the sale will be accepted between  Monday-Wednesday, April 23-25, 9am-7pm.

Proceeds of the sale go to specific local and global mission projects identified by the Pearce mission committee. A portion of those proceeds will go to help our partner school in Nzige, Rwanda purchase land for growing crops (to provide food for children)  and to build two buildings needed for them to become a certified primary school: a library and a teacher workroom.

Spotlight on Summer Camp Leadership Staff

K/1st Grade Camp Staff:
Sue Smout will again be our K/1st Grades Summer Camp Program Director. Sue's group will have fun weeks with themes such as "Happy Birthday USA", "Christmas in July", "Under the Sea", and "Science for  Everyone".  Sue has served as the K/1st grade Summer Camp Program Director since the summer of 2007.

When asked about what she is looking forward to in Sumner Camp this year, Sue says,  " I look forward to warm weather, outside water play, and Christmas in July!"

2nd Grade & Up Camp Staff:
Leandra Cooke will be back for her 2nd summer as our Summer Camp Program Director for the children in  2nd g rade and up. She will be leading the summer staff and children in such weekly themes as "Build It", "Survivor" and the always popular "Hockey Week".

When asked about Summer Camp, Leandra says, "My favorite thing about summer camp is seeing the excitement on the kids faces each day as we try something new together. I also enjoy working with the summer staff and like to remind them, 'Yes you are staff members but I want you to have just as much fun as the kids this summer' - because  happy staff make for happy kids."
Work or Play?
We are working to create a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) room for our after school program. We had the idea to create our own Lego table so purchased some base plates to glue down onto a table we already had. When we asked the Pearce Facilities Director, Bob Antes, the best way to glue the base plates to the table he and his sidekick, Ardell, took over the project! We are pretty sure that they had a little bit of fun in the process, as is evidenced by the photo!

A big thanks to Bob and Ardell for
helping us out!

Finding Love and Healing in a #MeToo World
One in three women will be sexually assaulted by the age of 18. This is the story of our world today. As the #MeToo movement sheds light on how many women have been affected by sexual violence, the question becomes, is this the story we have to accept? Is this simply a statistic that cannot change?

Pearce Church believes there is a different story, a better story, one where love and healing are made possible through Jesus Christ, the God who suffers with us and bore all of our pain on the cross. The pastoral staff wants the community to know that the church, and Pearce Church specifically, is a place where they can bring their stories of hurt and grief and find love and healing in a community that does not cast judgment on them but rather seeks to journey with them as they allow the sacrificial love of Jesus to reclaim their stories.

Join others from Pearce and the community on Wednesday, April 11, in the Sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. for a worship service of lament and hope as we grieve with, and for, those who have been harmed by sexual violence and look collectively to the cross, our source of all hope. Child Care through 6th grade will be provided.
Family Fun Night
Bring your family to Pearce for a night of futsal (indoor soccer) on Friday, April 13. The fun goes from 7-8:30pm in the gym and you don't need be a soccer star to come and have a good time!
