Wednesday Tenebrae

Tenebrae (the Latin word for "darkness" or "shadows") has for centuries been celebrated on a day in Holy Week preceding Maundy  Thursday . The solemn liturgy includes readings from the Lamentations and the gradual, dramatic extinguishing of candles in the church until only a single candle, considered a symbol of our Lord, remains.

Maundy Thursday

On March 29  we will observe the Maundy  Thursday  liturgy at 7:30 pm. This night, which remembers the first Eucharist, has distinct actions: the foot washing, Holy Eucharist, the Agape Meal and the stripping of the altar.

The Agape Meal is a relatively new practice at St. Patrick's. It is contained within the liturgy, but the worship moves to the parish hall. This year we share a modest bowl of vegetable soup in a candle lit setting as we listen in silence to the Passion according to St. John.

Good Friday

Come at 12 noon and 7:30 pm for the solemn  liturgy from our prayer book.

Holy Saturday

Join us for holding the sacred space of Holy Saturday, as the church will be open between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm for the opportunity to pray at the Garden of Repose in the nave or to walk the labyrinth in the parish hall. The Holy Saturday liturgy will be at 10:00 am in the chapel.
