Dangerous Safety and Traffic Issues on Campus
Dear Families,
There have been recent reports of a pedestrian nearly getting hit by a car at the crosswalk near the Children's Academic Center (CAC), two cars nearly colliding on the campus road behind the Children's Academic Center, people texting while driving, people speeding, especially after leaving the Early Childhood Center (ECC), and two parents in an argument outside of their cars.
It is essential that together we create a harmonious and safe climate where our children go to school. To this end, it is imperative that we work to keep our children safe and our campus safe. In the weeks ahead, here is what you can expect from CSS:
- Additional signage to remind us all of the crosswalks where our children and fellow parents may be walking.
- Increased presence of our security officer.
- A crisper, more timely dismissal among the buildings to help expedite pick-up.
We ask the following of you, as parents and guardians:
-
-
Use the crosswalk - park on Broadmoor Avenue and this will alleviate the lines.
-
Watch your speed.
-
No texting and driving.
-
Park only in designated spots, this is particularly important on the road behind the ECC and CAC. Do not just pull over and leave your car.
-
Do not block the entrance off of Broadmoor Avenue near the ECC.
-
Let other drivers pull out of the pre-school pick-up road.
-
Do not block the entrance/exit of the gravel parking lot.
-
Communicate the drop-off and pick-up details to caregivers who may drive your children; it is essential that they are aware of the systems involved.
-
Be mindful that you are on a school campus; children are everywhere.
-
Be a courteous driver.
Thank you for your partnership in improving the safety on campus.
