CALL FOR PRESENTERS FOR GREY MATTERS CONFERENCE

The 2018 Grey Matters Conference will be held September 24-26, 2018 in Calgary. The Grey Matters Planning Committee invites submissions from individuals and organizations interested in presenting at the conference. The committee's vision for the 2018 Grey Matters Conference is "OUR COMMUNITY GATHERS, Listening, Learning and Leading" and will focus on supporting seniors to age well. This vision should be reflected in your topic/presentation for the conference. Review the Call for Presenters and Presenter Guide for details. The submission deadline is April 20.

The Edmonton Volunteer Fair is an opportunity to not only raise awareness of your organization but to recruit new volunteers as well. This is the event to represent your organization and have personal interaction with the public while networking and connecting with a wide array of people. Last year, hundreds of potential volunteers introduced themselves to organizations and researched new opportunities to volunteer.

Your volunteer fair booth purchase includes feature in the ECVO National Volunteer Week campaign. Organizations will be promoted via the ECVO blog, social media and digital content. Register your organization.

NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 2018 MINISTER'S SENIORS SERVICE AWARDS

The Minister's Seniors Service Awards recognize exceptional volunteers for helping brighten the lives of seniors. There are three award categories:
  • Individual
  • Organization
  • Alice Modin Award for long-term community service
Albertans are encouraged to nominate a person or organization for an award. The nomination deadline is April 23. Review the nomination package.

The U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has released a report that provides an overview of practices and considerations for accommodating pedestrians with vision disabilities on shared streets, which are streets in which pedestrians, bicyclists, and motor vehicles intentionally mix together.

BUS NETWORK REDESIGN

Edmonton's bus routes are changing. Edmontonians are invited to share their ideas on how to adapt and adjust the new network to better serve more Edmontonians.

Community Workshops
The City of Edmonton is hosting 24 community workshops to get input from Edmontonians about the proposed bus network redesign. View the dates and locations of the workshops
 
Online survey
If you are unable to attend a community workshop, the City of Edmonton encourages you to provide feedback on the new bus network through an online survey. The survey will be open April 12 - June 30.
