In the Community:
Have You Made Your Pledge Yet?

If you haven't already heard, the Upside Foundation is asking technology companies to pledge a portion of their equity for charity.  This is an opportunity for the Canadian tech community to make a statement about who we are, what we stand for, and the role we see for ourselves in Canada's future.

When asked why he decided to make a pledge, AceTech Ontario CEO member Mike Katchen of Wealthsimple said "All founders, fundamentally, are trying to create the future that they hope is going to exist tomorrow- where they're solving big problems by building great companies- but there are lots of problems that companies can't solve.  Wouldn't it be great if that future was a giving future?".  Other AceTech Ontario members who have pledged include Sheetal Jaitly of TribalScale, Michael Carter of Kahuso & Vuk Magdelinic of Overbond.  At #Betakit150, Ben Zifkin of Hubba also announced an initiative led by the Toronto Tech community: to raise $25 million by 2022 to support SickKids building a new emergency suite.  Stay tuned for more information!

As of today, 140 companies have pledged to give back to their communities. There are only a few days left for your company to make an impact and express your Canadian values in a meaningful way, at a momentous time in our country's history.  If you have any questions, send an inquiry, or  book a call to chat with Jennifer Couldrey of the Upside Foundation today.
