Summer in Wisconsin is so short! It is a time to be outside, attend festivals, garden, and go on vacation. But it also might be when you have a window of downtime to do something you just wouldn't have time for during the school year! Summer Book Reads
Summer is here! Time to curl up in the hammock, or find that warm place in the sun with a good book!

We all know that our journey of life can at times be very challenging. As individual persons, as partners in a marriage, or as parents raising a family, knowing and living the Spiritual and Psychological principles for a healthy and effective journey are crucial. Dr. Kathie Amidei and Dr. Doug Meske have been able to clearly discuss these concepts in The Journey.

Here at St. Anthony on the Lake, we are committed to providing faith formation for every family. Many families choose Family Program, or the La Petite Family Program, as the method to help their family grow in faith. We would be happy to answer any questions you might have about our programs or how you can help as a catechist or group leader. Just call the office at 262 691-9170 and Maureen Michaels will direct your call to the appropriate staff member.

If you might register for Family Program or Confirmation for the 2017 - 2018 school year, please do so now. As we plan for next year, it is important to know the number of those participating in each grade. Over the summer we purchase our textbooks, plan our curriculum and organize our spaces and catechists.

Camp Covenant
"Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look, up in the sky. Is that a bird? Is it a plane? No, it is the Covenant Keepers!"
These were the words the children heard each morning as they learned about 3 bible stories from
"Crunch and Crash", our Covenant Keepers. Camp Covenant was a huge success, with over 175
participants and helpers. Of that, about 100 were participants in grades 5 and under, and 75 were
helpers, grades 6-12 and adults. We kicked off our camp with a Pentecost Party and celebrated the
birthday of the church. The children learned about Pentecost, Noah's Ark, Abraham and Sarah and, The
Exodus story. Stories about God's promises to his people. The stories, crafts, games, music, and snacks
were all themed around these Covenant Bible stories.
We tied service to animals in to our week for Noah's Ark. We made 50 prayer blankets for the
Waukesha County Humane Society as well as collected over 50 items, including treats for dogs and
cats. Our 4th and 5th graders, with their leader Jennifer Unger, got to go on field trips each day to learn
the stories and taking these items to HAWS was one of them.
Thanks to Joe and Rose Nelson, this group got
a boat ride on Pewaukee Lake when learning about Noah's Ark. Thanks also to Kate Burke, Laura
Fredette and Angie Flanagan for helping to drive the group to their destinations.
Did you know you can make a dove out of a plastic water bottle, some modeling putty and white
feathers, complete with a magnetic sprig from an olive branch? Keely and Angie Flanagan can come
up with just about anything you need at the final hour! Many thanks to them and to our Bible Camp team
for the hours of dedication in planning, creating and implementing such an awesome week. Jack
and Maribeth Blankenheim, Jennifer Unger, Jenifer Hilander, Melanie Metz, Katie Staacke, Mary
Estrada, Veronica Wykpisz, Kathie Amidei. Special thanks to Julie Farrell, Laura Smyczek, and Amy
Wieber for the great music! And to Crunch and Crash and our story teachers Marge Schweitzer, Jenifer
Hilander, Katie Staacke, Julie Goyette, Barb Reynolds, Amanda Dwyer and Becky Kohl. A round of
applause to our kitchen team, led by Maribeth Blankenheim and Mary Estrada. The snacks were fun
and delicious! And we can't forget our child care team, led by Kathy Paro. Even the little ones got to
create fun take aways for the bible stories! Thanks also to Mary Maddocks for her expertise in
photography and capturing all the pictures, to Jim Guidinger for his help and to all the teens, youth and
adults who helped throughout the week leading the groups, playing games, acting in skits, helping story
teachers, helping with set ups and clean ups, painting title pages for our Bible and more!!

A huge thank you to all who joined us for Bible Camp! It was a great fun learning, playing and serving together. Participants, youth helpers and adult volunteers were all amazing and made it a great experience for all! Thank you to Debbie Kusch for her organization and passion to make this happen for our little ones. We look forward to next year!

MISSION TRIPS
: Last week several of our high school teens were in South Dakota and Detroit, serving those in need and sharing Christ's love.
Thank you to all of the teens that gave up part of their summer, to go on these trips. Thank you to the adult chaperones that went with them and to Ann Fons and Cindi Petre for their passion and leadership in making the trips happen each year. Thank you also to all who purchased a 'share' to support these trips and especially for all the prayers. The stories indicate amazing experiences for all and what they received outweighed what they gave.

Summer Outreach Camp, July 25 through 27, 2017

What is Summer Outreach Camp? It is a half week service camp held right here at St. Anthony on the Lake. This year 35 of our middle school youth will be taking part in this Christ-centered mission experience serving our neighbors and community through hands-on assistance and work. Summer Outreach Camp is a collaboration between St. Anthony on the Lake, St. Dominic and Queen of Apostles parishes. How can you help? At this time we still need a few more adults as chaperones. We are also looking for sites where we can serve. Please contact
Ann Fons if you are interested in
chaperoning or if you know of someone in our area who could use help with yard work or simple home repair.

This week 23 people began a journey of discovery, prayer and empowerment to "Unlock Their Gifts" using Gallup's Clifton Strengths Finder tool.

Come help sort and hang clothing for those in need in Waukesha. Assist them in finding clothes for themselves and their families. Children 5
th grade and older are welcome with a parent.

Family Inspiration: SUMMER Beauty!
One of the great things about summer is all the time we get to spend outdoors! For me, nature is a clear reflection of God's glory. I can't help but praise God when I see a gorgeous sunset or sit with children on a nice green lawn. Last fall at Family Program we prayed with Nature; parents led their children in a very simple prayer while they sat outside.
Perhaps you might like to take 10 minutes sometime this week, to intentionally pray outdoors with your family. Here is an easy way to do that; the prayer we used is available on our
Family Program Blog.

Sunday Mass Connection
Did you notice in the bulletin and in the worship aid at Mass that we are now in the Liturgical Season of Ordinary Time? This Sunday is the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

does not
mean unimportant
or boring. It means ordered, or numbered time.
During Ordinary Time we read through one Gospel at Mass. Invite your children to pay attention to the Gospel at Mass and then ask, "Are we reading from Matthew, Mark, Luke or John this year?" Find out more about the
