Happy spring! As we sprint toward the end of the school year (we're not limping yet!),
we still have so many exciting things planned for our students. You have the opportunity to be involved in events like Renaissance Faire and 8th Grade Celebration. Both of these events can not be successful without parent volunteers. Be sure to stay informed with school happenings each week by reading the Monday Memo and Mrs. DeBusk's Friday
email blast.

C MM's 8th Grade Mardi Gras Celebration took place on Friday, February 9th, 2018. It was a fun filled day that started with an amazing Coronation ceremony.    The 8th Grade Counselor, Mrs. Ta Robinson organized a wonderful ceremony not only for our 8th Grade students, but for our 8th Grade Teachers as well.    The 8th Graders were entertained by three local Mardi Gras Krewes, the Southfield Spurs Dance Team and the Captain Shreve Jazz Band.    All 8th graders were able to join in on the festivities by multiple flash dance mobs that entertained everyone. There was even a costume contest that many of our 8th grade students participated in.

The 8th Graders then went on to enjoy delicious Jambalaya from Bergeron's Boudin and Cajun Meats and King Cake from Lilah's Bakery.  After lunch, the kids were treated to a fun dance in the gym with unlimited candy and drinks and a photo booth courtesy of Cosse & Silmon Orthodontics.  Many, many thanks to the parents, committee members, and 8th Grade Teachers for helping make this day so special and one our 8th Graders will always remember!

Before we get to those events in May, we have LEAP 2025 Testing. We are doing the schedule a little differently this year. One grade will test each week, and the other grades will go to classes on the regular schedule.

Valentines Dance

Our final dance for the year was held  February 7th  in the CMM gym.  The Valentine themed dance is always a hit with the students, and this year was no exception.  Pizza and concessions were enjoyed as the kids danced their "hearts" out ️!

Thanks to all the parents who volunteered their time selling tickets, pizza and drinks and monitoring the halls during all 4 of the dances this year. Your help was GREATLY appreciated!!

Hospitality Committee

LAISSEZ LES BON TEMPS ROULER!!  On  Tuesday, February 13th , the CMM faculty and staff were treated to a Mardi Gras Luncheon with authentic Louisiana flair.  With Cajun music playing in the background, the CMM staff dined on chicken & sausage gumbo, winter salad, buttered French bread and assorted Julie Anne's king cakes for dessert.

We're not sure who enjoyed it more - the CMM faculty and staff or the PTSA Hospitality committee members who served.  Thanks to all who sent items and those who helped set up, serve and clean up.  A good time was passed by all!

The final Hospitality luncheon of the year will be held  Tuesday, May 15th from 11:15-1:30  in the Teachers' Lounge.
