Opening Day of 2020 legislative session

The second session of the 72nd General Assembly will begin on Wednesday, January 8 at 10 am. Traditionally, the Opening Day of a new session tends to favor more pomp and circumstance than actual legislating, but it's an exciting day nonetheless.

The Colorado State Capitol

Please feel free to come down to the Capitol and watch the festivities live and in person! Both the House and Senate Gallery Seats are located on the third floor and are open to the public. Parking is at a premium, however, so plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time. Or, better yet, take the commuter rail!

The Governor's annual State of the State address will be on Thursday, January 9 at 11 am in the House of Representatives Chamber. Again, seats in the gallery are available to the public, but they fill up quickly. You can also watch the State of the State and the Opening Day ceremony on our WEBSITE or the Colorado Channel.

Tracking your Senator

There is nothing to report! The JBC did not meet during the holidays. I spent the last two weeks with family both here and on the Western Slope, as well as celebrated my birthday and prepped for the upcoming session. The next scheduled JBC meeting will be on Tuesday, January 7 at 9 am and the Opening Day of the new legislative session will be on Wednesday, January 8. (Although, I did attend my friend and former Representative Jim Pierson's 80th birthday party!)

Former Rep. Jim Pierson, HD27, celebrated his 80th birthday!

If there is an event you think I should attend, please notify me !

Can you help us by making a contribution? While the campaign activity has concluded, we still need your help so that we may continue keeping in touch with constituents. Your contribution helps pay for events, direct mail, the website, newsletter, and other tools that make voters aware of what is happening down at the State Capitol. THANK YOU!
