AMEND AO-96 ANCHORAGE
Didn't 'we the people" vote against this in 2012 and WIN?
YES, but our liberal Mayor and Assemby don't care what we think!
Time to Get Busy and Protect Women & Children!
With the Anchorage Municipal Clerk recently certifying the application for an initiative petition, it's time to collect signatures.
We, concerned citizens of Anchorage are in the process of
amending
AO-96, a misguided and dangerous Anchorage Assembly ordinance that gives men who identify as women, and vice versa, the ability to use the restroom, shower and locker room of their choice based on what sex they identify as - even if that gender identity is fluid and can change daily.
Our Protect Our Privacy Petition has one basic assumption - government should protect Alaskan's privacy, safety and dignity in intimate settings like showers, restrooms and locker rooms, not threaten it.
The initiative will do two simple things -
1) Require municipal owned facilities like the Sullivan Arena and libraries to segregate their intimate spaces based on biological sex as determined at birth. We believe that citizens using such facilities have a right to physical privacy that includes the right not to be seen in various states of undress by members of the opposite sex.
2) Give private businesses and faith based groups such as churches and ministries the freedom to operate according to their convictions and segregate intimate spaces based on biological sex as determined at birth. This initiative would not, of course, prevent businesses like Target from making poor decisions to open up their bathrooms to all genders. It simply gives businesses the right to choose how they want to operate.
The clock is now ticking and we have until July 20th, 2017 to collect approximately 7,500 signatures of registered voters within the Municipality of Anchorage. Contact Kim Minnery for how you can obtain signature pages or help: president@akfamily.org or (907)227-0346.
