Join us as we celebrate Palm Sunday and recall the unexpected and subversive nature of Jesus's triumphant entry into Jerusalem days before his crucifixion. Melanie's sermon is entitled "God in Disguise" and scriptures are Isaiah 50:4-9 and Mark 11:1-11.
Something New!
Our morning service for this week will begin on the front lawn of the church with a brief Liturgy of the Palms, for those choosing to participate. Palm strips will be available in the narthex for everyone attending the service.
Those outside will process into the church with festive music led by the Beckwith Handbell Choirs.
Music Notes:
On this Palm Sunday, our full complement of music ensembles celebrate both the festive entry of Jesus into Jerusalem as well as the unfolding events of the Passion narrative. Hal Hopson's arrangement of the hymn "Hosanna, Loud Hosanna" brings together the children's choir along with the Covenant choir in a festive responsorial anthem. The handbell choir presents a tranquil meditation on the Passion Hymn, "O Sacred Head Now Wounded." In preparation for Holy Week, our service concludes with a Taizé refrain on the text of Jesus spoken to his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane, "Stay with me, watch, and pray."
The children will have Sunday School and Youth Sunday Prep this week.
The memory verses for March 18 are:

Lent Adult Education Series: "Going Out"
During Lent, we have been getting to know our mission partners. Join us Palm Sunday for the final Forum in our Lenten "Going Out" series. We will travel to be with our neighbors at Family Promise of Greater Cleveland, share a pizza lunch with the resident families, and have a tour of their facility. Members who wish to attend can bring a snack or dessert to share. We will meet in the Reception room immediately following worship. Family Promise is located at 3470 East 152nd Street, Cleveland 44120. Food collection for the Covenant Food Pantry Sunday, March 25 .
Sunday, March 25 the children will collect food and financial donations for our Covenant Food Pantry, open the last Wednesday and Friday of each month, Thursday afternoons in the Connection Center for students, and for emergencies. The Pantry can especially use canned vegetables(corn, beans, peas, carrots etc), pudding cups, fruit cups, canned chili, canned beef stew, pasta, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, jelly, cereal(individual size), spaghettios, spam or canned meat, soup and tuna fish.

Camron lights up when he talks about sports. He is lucky to have a close relationship with his brother Justin. My favorite part about being with Camron is he's always wearing a Benedictine sweatshirt and people on every street come up to us and say, "so you go to Benedictine." It seems as though he's always part of a greater wonderful community no matter where he is and he seems happy to be part of it. He also loves to eat pizza. I feel lucky to be his mentor. I am also grateful that he is part of the Covenant family.

March for Our Lives

So far there have been 2,490 gun related deaths in the United States in 2018. Now is the time to DEMAND Action! Join Covenant Student Ministries as we attend the Cleveland March For Our Lives, a peaceful response to gun violence and the inaction of our civic leaders to enact responsible gun legislation in our state and across the country.
We will meet at 9:30 AM in the parking lot at Church of the Covenant and take the RTA-HealthLine to public square.
The rally begins at 11:00 in public square and the march begins at 12:00! Please join us!

Apostles Build

Join us
again this year (our fourth!) to help rehab houses through the Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity Apostles Build. Our first two workdays of the year are fast approaching on April 5 and 7. This year we will be working to rehab a house in the West Park neighborhood on the west side of Cleveland. As the first group to work on the house, we plan to get it off to a great start. Covenant Partnering with North Church
Sunday April 8 and April 15
 Thanks to those who helped partner with North Church on Sundays January 21st and 28th. Our remaining two Sundays to Partner with North Church for 2018 are on April 8th and April 15th. You are invited to be part of a team of six to eight people, assisting from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm in preparing and serving the community meal that follows their worship service. North Church, which shares space with Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries at 4515 Superior Ave., "carries out an active ministry to our community through seeking to build a vibrant worship community, community meals, and an outreach to homeless and street people and those experiencing mental illness." There are sign up sheets in the church office. For more information, call Bob Ault at 216-751-6094. North Church is a Covenant mission partner.
