A Heartfelt Thank You

Thank you to my church family for the food, cards, letters, visits, and words of encouragement during my recovery from surgery. You truly put the ❤️ in the Heart of Longmont.

New Lenten Study begins in March
NEW DATE AND TIME
After receiving feedback from several people we are changing the date and time for our upcoming Lenten Study! Come take a walk with Pastor David and others as we study Adam Hamilton’s new book The Walk: Five Essential Practices of the Christian Life

Starting Wednesday March 4 at 1:00 pm and continuing for six weeks, we will meet in the Parlor to view a video segment from Rev. Hamilton and then discuss one of the essential practices he says we need for the Christian life. The five practices are: worship and prayer, paying attention, serving, giving and sharing and each one is exemplified by Jesus in his own life.

A sign-up sheet is on the Hospitality desk. Copies of The Walk are $14.00.
New Sermon Series:
Mountaintop Experiences for Front Range Living
The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and continues for six weeks until Easter. This year that runs from February 26 to April 12. Our new sermon series will be focusing on the various mountains in Israel where Jesus had significant events occur in his life and ministry. What might those mountaintop experiences teach us about living today on the Front Range of Colorado?

Rod and Joan Edmonds are leading a tour to Israel in 2021 and we will preview some of the places on that tour with our Lenten sermon series. First stop will be Jebel Qurantul, or the Mount of Temptation, outside of Jericho. Other mountaintop experiences will be the Mount of Olives, Mount Moriah, the Horns of Hattin, and Mount Golgotha. Join us Sunday mornings at 10:00 am during worship through the season of Lent.
Special Ash Wednesday Service

We will not have an Ash Wednesday service at the Heart of Longmont on February 26 this year. Pastor David will be sharing communion and imposing ashes to those who desire at the HOPE homeless shelter at the Journey Church, 2000 Pike Rd Unit A, Longmont, CO 80501, starting at 6:30pm. Though specifically for our friends who are experiencing homelessness, anyone is welcome to come and partake. Come early if you like and visit with the folks during dinner. It should be a truly memorable time.

Looking for a Mission Opportunity? Two Ideas:

We need people to work on April 4 at the Habitat Build project. You can either come to help swing a hammer or saw some boards. The other way you could help would be to provide lunch for the workers that day. As our various committees and teams are finding ways to do more in the community this might be a very helpful way to make an impact. If you have any questions or need more details please contact Jan Timmons at 303-776-8644.
All Church Kitchen Cleaning
Attention church family!

There will be an ALL CHURCH KITCHEN CLEANING on Saturday, February 22, at 9 AM. For many years, the United Methodist Women have been responsible for keeping the kitchen clean, however we are not the only ones who use the kitchen within the life of the church and we can no longer see to its upkeep alone.

Please plan to come and help on Feb 22, as the more we have helping, the more quickly we will be done! We plan to establish cleaning the kitchen as a quarterly activity to keep up with its cleaning and maintenance needs.

Bring a pair of rubber gloves, a small bucket (if you have one) and your muscles! Thank you in advance for your cooperation and consideration! If you have ANY questions, please contact Lynn Greenhalge at 303-651-3911.

What's Going On Up There???
You may have heard that our roof needs some repairs. We will be starting a capital campaign after the first of the year to address the roof repairs, but you can give before the end of the year towards the roof so you can get the best tax breaks for 2019.

Want to understand why we need these repairs? Watch the video below and see for yourself!
