Utilizing Patient Feedback
And Reviews
|
|
We live in a review-based society. You ask a friend for restaurant recommendations, you check star ratings before you make that Amazon purchase, and you go deep on user reviews before you book a hotel or vacation rental. Healthcare often goes a step further with more and more health systems and insurers switching to value-based care to determine reimbursements.
For physicians in private practice utilizing reviews and making positive changes based on feedback is a great way to keep insurance reimbursements high, your business moving in a positive direction, and make your patients happy.
Why feedback is important
I have written
before
about how listening to your staff can help keep your employees engaged and happy. The same goes for your patients. When a patient feels you are really listening, both in clinical settings and in online reviews, feedback forms, and surveys, you will start to build trust. They are coming to you with the most important thing in their lives, either their own health or the health of their loved ones. Trust is integral to building a solid physician/patient relationship and listening and acting on feedback is a great way to build that trust.

No More Numerical Scores For USMLE Step 1 Exam
New pass/fail policy aims to reduce overemphasis
on test performance
|
|
Scores for Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) will be reported as pass/fail, not as numeric scores, the two organizations that sponsor the test
announced
Wednesday.
The change, which will
happen no sooner than January 2022
, aims to reduce overemphasis on Step 1 performance while allowing licensing authorities to continue to use the test to determine medical license eligibility, the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) said.

Why Biometrics Are The
Future Of Patient Care
|
|
Most consumers are accustomed to using their fingerprint to unlock their phones. That’s just one of the uses for biometric technology, which includes: fingerprint, iris, and facial recognition, as well as palm-vein readers, to reduce the authorization fraud and security breaches common with passwords.
Government, financial, travel/logistics and consumer electronic industries have all increased their use of biometric technology in recent years and use in the healthcare industry also continues to grow.
Estimates are that the healthcare biometrics market will be worth $14.5 billion by 2025, due to the increase in healthcare information exchanges and the demand for technology that decreases data corruption and fraud, according to an analysis by Grand View Research. That represents a growth of 23% from 2017, and Grand View predicts the growth of consumerism in healthcare will push many organizations to consider biometrics as it becomes the standard in other industries.
