CherryArts Auction: Now Open
Each year CherryArts features an art auction with original works of art and other exciting items generously donated from exhibiting artists, sponsors, and supporters. The auction raises money to support our year-round mission to support arts education.

Kick off your visit to the Arts Festival with a stop at the auction gallery located at 2nd and Clayton.

One item to expect is this one-of-a-kind 18-karat white gold pendant (left) from the John Atencio Signature Collection. Individually inspired and hand-designed, this extraordinary pendant showcases a 14x10mm emerald fancy cut Swiss Blue topaz, a trillion-cut peridot, and 25 round brilliant diamonds.

Toyota's Car Painting by Lisa Rusell
Toyota is returning to the Arts Festival this year and will once again be commissioning an artist to paint a car at the festival live. This year's artist is Lisa Rusell and she will be painting on a Prius. This will not be Lisa's first time painting a Toyota car; in 2015, Lisa painted a Toyota Camry with a gorgeously expressive floral design at the Denver Art Museum. We are excited to see how she will be #BringingArtToLife at the festival this year! Visit her website to see more work from Lisa.

Toyota will also be hosting a Ride & Drive during the festival. This is a wonderful opportunity to test drive a variety of Toyota's models!

Arrow Art Challenge Winner Announced!

Congratulations, Peter Clouse!

Arrow Electronics called this their toughest winner selection yet. After much deliberation, they have selected Peter Clouse as the winner of this  year's Arrow Art  Challenge!

Peter's message of sustainability struck a cord with Arrow Electronics and spoke to their  own initiative of making environmentally conscious choices, particularly with their own waste management. Peter reuses thrown-out electronic cables to weave them into a textile work of art.

"When I first started making art I didn't know it would end up being connected to issues of sustainability, gender roles or connect to a history of textile making, all I knew was I enjoyed making so I continued making. My material choices stem from being broke; for almost a decade I have chosen materials I am surrounded by, literally picking materials out of the garbage. I see potential and beauty in materials that others have discarded. This habit or hoarding of discarded materials has created a passion in me for being sustainable as an Artist. I am passionate about consumption in this country and how it leads to the disposal of goods and it is now my responsibility to put these materials back into production."

Visit his website to learn more about his work. See the work of all Arrow Art Challenge finalists on display at the Arts Festival on Detroit near 2nd Ave.
