JA Corporate Masthead

At the close of the 2016-17 school year, your Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio has many successes to point to. We brought JA programming to more than 1,250 classrooms in our 12-county area - inspiring and preparing more than 26,000 students to succeed in a global economy. On the fundraising and revenue side, it was a successful year, bringing in more than $650,000.

But perhaps even more importantly, JANCO has made great strides being seen by many important community partners as a vital player in the entrepreneurship, workforce readiness, and financial literacy education fields.

More frequently than ever, we're being invited to the table by school boards, government officials, and business leaders to share our expertise. And that is paying off: for the second consecutive year, our office has been awarded a Community Connector grant from the state of Ohio. For 2017-18, we will receive $100,000 to increase our middle and high school JA programming in Akron Public Schools.

2017-18 will be another year filled with unique challenges and opportunities - and our staff is looking forward to finding more ways to help local students own their economic success.

Thank you for your help making it happen.

Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio recently participated in the Goodyear Tire and Rubber #GoodyearBetterFuture Week of Volunteering. Our Goodyear volunteers helped us recycle kits for the 17-18 school year, thank donors, and more! We appreciate our long-standing relationship with Goodyear and hope to participate in this event for many years to come.

For more information on the event, please read the article by the Cuyahoga Falls News-Press HERE.

The 2017 Career Readiness Conferences were both very successful. The first ever Western Territory Conference was received with very positive feedback. We are excited to explore additional opportunities surrounding this event and those in attendance.

The Eastern Territory Conference also received very positive feedback. One teacher in particular, Kim Brendel, wrote a glowing review:

"The students gain professionalism and seem (every year) to greatly appreciate interacting with an adult in this capacity. It is so helpful to the kids to gain different perspectives and advice on interviews. The mock interview are very effective. My students are energized."

Thank you to Kim Brendel and everyone who attended the JA Career Readiness Conferences.

GolfEventA Successful Golf Event
The income has been tallied (expenses are not all in)! The 2017 JA Golf Outing raised $32,297 for JANCO! Thank you.

Donations (events included) are our only form of income - financial support helps graduates enter the workforce with the ability to manage debt, bank accounts, budgets, and more; the skills needed to stimulate jobs and economic growth; and the problem solving and critical thinking abilities to contribute to individual and organizational success. We do not charge for our programs, but the cost to provide one program is $640.

The golf outing provided more than 50 JA programs, benefitting more than 1,000 students in our twelve-county footprint. To put that in perspective, in 2015-16, we received 1,443 program requests and worked with nearly 850 volunteers to deliver 1,176 of them. More than 24,600 students throughout North Central Ohio benefitted from the relevant, hands-on learning that is the hallmark of JA's educational model.

Thank you to everyone who supported the event!

GolfSponsorsThank you to Our Golf Sponsors
After another successful JA Annual Golf Outing, we would like to thank our event sponsors. Because of your generosity, we had a wonderful event and brought JA programs to local students. Thank you!

Our top donor was Bridgestone Americas as the Golf Course Sponsor. JANCO has a long-standing relationship with Bridgestone and appreciates the years of support we have received from this organization.

Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (BSAM) is the U.S. subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, the world's largest tire and rubber company. BSAM and its subsidiaries develop, manufacture and market a wide range of Bridgestone, Firestone and associate brand tires to address the needs of a broad range of customers, including consumers, automotive and commercial vehicle original equipment manufacturers. BSAM employs 900 employees at its Akron campus, which includes the Americas Technical Center, where it conducts much of its research, design and development, Data Center, Bridgestone Americas Center for Research and Technology and Firestone Polymers, in addition to the  Advanced Technology Workshop manufacturing facility.

Once again, thank you to all of our JA Annual Golf Outing donors! We hope to have you back again next year!
