February   News

,

Did you know February is National Embroidery Month? We're celebrating with a new article that will appear in the newsletter each month - Stitches & Techniques! Check it out below.

My sewing room and office are humming with prepartions for the Academy of Appliqué next month, along with pattern writing, preparing for new classes, and learning new techniques to share. Here's what's happening...
On the Design Wall

My design wall is not filled with fabrics and ribbons and threads as usual. It is, however, filled with layouts for three new patterns!

There have been several inquiries about pattern availability from those who will not be able to attend the Academy of A ppliqué in Willliamsburg, VA next month. Therefore, I am making a diligent effort to have these two new patterns, the Floral Urn and the Grapewreath & Chalice, ready and available next month following the Academy.

Both patterns will include some new stitches and techniques not found in my previous books. I'll post on Facebook and Instagram when and where they are available this month.

And the third pattern? It's a surprise for next month!
Academy of appliqué

The  2020 Academy of Appliqué in Williamsburg, Virginia is almost here!  I'm even more excited about my classes than when I first stitched the blocks!

The next few weeks will be filled with prepartions for the upcoming Academy of A ppliqué! Supplies have been ordered. Kits are being filled with threads and ribbons and some extra goodies. Workbook pages are under construction. We're going to have so much fun!

I'm looking forward to seeing you in Williamsburg in a few short weeks! For those of you who will not be able to join us, both t he  Floral Urn   and t he  Grape Wreath & Chalice  will be available as patterns shortly after the Academy.

Stitches & Techniques

In celebration of National Embroidery Month, I'm changing it up a bit by offereing a new article in our newsletter.

I continue to learn new embroidery, ribbon, and appliqué techniques f rom past and present stitching sisters. It's very gratifying learning something new and I would like to share this joy with you.

Each month I will highlight a new-to-me stitch or technique. I will share a pdf of the technique or a video link so you too may learn along with me.

Stitch a sample of the technique on a 7" x 7" piece of fabric. C ollect your stitched sample pages and at the end of the year we will make them into a Sampler Roll that will grow as you continue to learn and add new stitch and technique samples.

February offers a two-part technique, two pdfs. One is for the Drizzle Stitch and one for is for  Beaded Blackberries

Let me know what you think of the new section or any ideas or techniques you would like to see in this article.

Please remember the Stitches & Techniques pages are copyrighted and for your  personal use only  and may not be copied, duplicated or shared in any format.

Happy National Embroidery Month!

Stitching Companions

It's been a bit damp and chilly in our neck of the woods. Well, damp and chilly for Florida.

Just ask Sammy. He has found a new spot to keep warm! He's a tiny kitty, but still adorable seeing how small he can get snuggled on top of the cable box for warmth.

How did he even find this warm spot? Cats are amazing!

In Closing

May your love for appliqué and embroidery continue to grow with your circle of stitching sisters.

Until next month,
Stay stitching,
