MSE/MBA Dual Degree Plan Announced         
Two degrees can be earned in half the time
 
Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration and the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering has announced a new dual degree this fall which will bring benefits to students in both colleges to earn both an MSE and an MBA. Students will be able to earn two degrees in half the time.
 
The program is designed for engineers looking to advance their knowledge in the engineering field, while at the same time develop the kind of business acumen that will open up new professional opportunities. It teaches students the important components of running and operating a business and allows them to develop business intelligence, gain new perspectives and the opportunity to strengthen their career direction. China-to-India Trip a Success Again         
CBA instructor leads informative travel abroad study 
 
Business students participated in an "around the world" study abroad trip for International Economics during the first summer session. The program included two weeks of classes held on campus, followed by two weeks of international economic immersion in the countries of India and China. Students also spent a day each at two of the world's financial centers -- New York City and Singapore. The program was a great balance between understanding international business practices in the developing economies and, at the same time, experiencing cultural sensitivities that help professional interactions. A positive side effect of the program was visits to two of the Seven Wonders of the World -- the Taj Mahal in India and the Great Wall of China. Read more about this article.
 

Dr. Genevieve Scalan Gives Insightful Presentation    
Assistant professor brings CBA teaching method to workshop
 
Dr. Genevieve Scalan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance, recently presented at the Southern Business Administration Association 2017 Summer Workshop held in Amelia Island, Florida. The title of her presentation was "Incorporating Innovative Pedagogies into Curriculum: intentional and unintentional student learning outcomes."  She shared on the impetus, implementation, and outcome of the Principles of Financial Accounting Lab that was introduced last fall in the College of Business Administration. The lab employs simulations, games and some novel updates to the use of Monopoly™ in its accounting pedagogy. 

CBA Students Get Involved with Javelina Habitat     
McCullen delivers message to Sustainability Marketing class
 
Eliasz McCullen, Recycling Coordinator for the university's Office of Campus Sustainability, spoke to Dr. John Cicala' s Sustainable Marketing class on Tuesday, June 27. The presentation focused on how the office promotes sustainable behavior and actions on campus. McCullen also gave students helpful examples of how they can be more environmentally responsible. Tiphanie Contreras, President-elect of the Javelina Marketing Club in the College of Business Administration, attended the presentation to discover how the student organization could assist the Office of Campus Sustainability with their efforts beginning this fall.


Dr. Thomas Krueger in the News      
CBA professor featured in newspaper & television
 
Dr. Tom Krueger, J.R. Manning Endowed Professor of Innovation in Business Education and Chair, Department of Accounting and Finance, was featured twice this past month in local media - the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and KIII-TV. The first was about the impact of NAS-Kingsville on the local economy. The second was discussion of the amount of oil flowing through Corpus Christi and its impact on our economy. External Scholarship Opportunities      
Expanding financial aid for business majors
 
Opportunities are still available for undergraduate business students to apply for external scholarships. These scholarships may be provided by private donors, foundations, businesses and many other sources outside of Texas A&M University-Kingsville. These can potentially help students cover the costs of their education and education - related expenses. Student eligibility depends upon a number of factors, all of which are set forth by the organization which offers the scholarship.  Read more about this article.
