Fullerton College will join many communities around the nation in recognizing April as National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Several activities and events will be hosted throughout the month to help raise awareness among college students about sexual assault and violence against women and men. Fullerton College Presents 2018 French Film Festival
Fullerton College is pleased to announce this year's French Film Festival, which will be held Tuesday, April 10 through Friday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. Each year, the festival grows in success and popularity and has proven to be a great opportunity for students and community members to immerse themselves in French cinema. The festival includes a high school night and a German night.

Dr. Miguel Powers Named Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to English Professor Dr. Miguel Powers who was selected as the Fullerton College 2018 Teacher of the Year. Powers was notified of this recognition on March 20 during a Humanities Division meeting after being nominated by several current and former students. He was selected by a committee of representatives which include members of Associated Students and Faculty Senate. Chemistry Professor Guy Dadson also received recognition as a Teacher of the Year Finalist and will be considered for a county-wide recognition.
Annual CTE High School Counselors' Summit Promotes FC Programs
The Second Annual Fullerton College Career and Technical Education High School Counselors' Summit was held on March 21 in the College Center, Building 200. Coordinated in collaboration with CTE Staff, Strategic Recruitment and Outreach and Counseling and High School Outreach, the CTE High School Counselors' Summit is an opportunity to strengthen connections and partnerships with local high schools and the community and highlight CTE programs at Fullerton College.

The Hornet Receives Gold Medalist Certificate
The Hornet newspaper received the Gold Medalist Certificate for its Fall 2017 staff in the annual critique from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association at Columbia University. Judges commented on the amount of campus coverage and the various multimedia components offered. The Gold Medalist level is the highest level of the critique presented by the association.
Journalism Students Attend Conference, Take Home Awards
Fullerton College journalism students attended the Journalism Association of Community Colleges' annual conference March 22-24 in Burbank and came home with a number of awards that highlight their individual and collective projects.

Fire Extinguisher Training
The campus' annual Fire Extinguisher training will be presented by MARX Bros. Fire Extinguisher Service Co. The training session will be hands-on training and will cover the proper use of the fire extinguisher along with fire safety in the work and home environment. Training at Fullerton College will be on April 13 at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p..m. and 5:30 p.m. in Staff Lot B2 East. Fire extinguishers will also be available for purchase.

Softball
The FC softball team hosted Bakersfield and Citrus Colleges on Saturday and dropped both non-conference games by narrow margins of 2-0 and 2-1. Up Next: The Hornets (13-14 overall, 6-7 OEC) will play a big conference game at Cypress College on Wednesday, April 4 at 3 p.m.
Baseball
The Hornets lost at home last Thursday to Moorpark College 6-4 in a non-conference matchup. Up Next: Fullerton (14-13 overall, 6-3 OEC) will open a three-game conference series at home this Tuesday, April 3 against Irvine Valley College at 2 p.m.
Men's Volleyball
Fullerton locked down two big conference wins last week. At Irvine Valley College last Wednesday, the Hornets beat the Lasers 3-2 (26-24, 25-21, 21-25, 21-25, 20-18) and the following day they were victorious over Santiago Canyon College 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 26-24). Up Next: FC (9-5 overall, 3-1 OEC) will play at Golden West College for another Orange Empire Conference game on Wednesday, April 4 at 6 p.m.
Women's Tennis
The Hornets lost a close one 5-4 at Irvine Valley last Thursday. Up Next: FC (7-11 overall, 2-7 OEC) will host Orange Coast College on Tuesday, April 3 at 2 p.m.
Men's Tennis
Fullerton fell at home against Irvine Valley College 7-2 last Thursday. Up Next FC (2-15 overall, 0-9 OEC) will play at Orange Coast College on Tuesday, April 3 at 2 p.m.

Allegory for Grief and Grace March 8-April 9
Fullerton College is honored to present Lisa Congdon as the 2018 Artist in Residence. Fine artist, illustrator and author Lisa Congdon is best known for her colorful paintings and hand lettering. In addition to authoring seven books, she works for clients around the world including MoMA, REI, Harvard University, Martha Stewart Living, Chronicle Books, and Random House Publishing, among many others.
Symphonic Winds April 3
The Symphonic Winds ensemble is the major performing group for wind, brass and percussion music majors at Fullerton College. This ensemble performs standard band literature as well as commissioning new works from both students and established composers. Entrance in the ensemble is by audition. Non-majors are also welcome to join this ensemble.
