Greetings!

This email is directed at any NFLPA-certified contract advisor interested in how the NFL draft works as well as the months leading up to the draft. Note: We are not endorsed, sponsored, or otherwise affiliated with the NFLPA.
Getting Started
If you're receiving this newsletter, you're the parent of a young man who hopes to be drafted next spring. Before we go farther, I want to take a moment to introduce myself.

Who is Neil Stratton?: Very briefly, I've run a service called  Inside the League (ITL) since '02. It's a consulting service for the college and pro football industry. I played football at the Naval Academy in the 90s; ran the 2008 Hula Bowl as its Executive Director; and   currently work with the representation, financial planners, combine trainers, school compliance officials, or others associated with 60-70 percent of active NFL players.  Here are a few testimonials. I'm NOT an agent, and never have been one, but I feel I know more about agencies and agent recruiting than anyone in the football business.  Here's a YouTube clip.

About this newsletter series: We're kicking this off to dispel a lot of the myths about the draft process. There's a lot of misinformation put out by agents, coaches, parents, compliance officials and other people, often well-meaning, and I'm interested in cleaning that up. I anticipate this series running Monday through Thursday for four weeks. We'll detail the entire NFL draft process, soup to nuts, for NFL hopefuls. We'll also talk about the agent business in some detail and with a critical eye. Our goal is to make sure you don't make any mistakes due to being misinformed or misunderstood.

Is it 'safe' to receive this series?: I'm very sensitive to the fact that college players must always worry about their eligibility. That's why I've made this series completely free, and why it's available to every man, woman and child in America. I work with the compliance departments for several BCS schools and have several NCAA contacts, and I understand that a person in your position can't receive any inducements or any extra benefits because of who you are. Again, this newsletter series is available to  anybody. In fact, I encourage you to forward it to anyone you feel might be interested. You could also just have them contact me so I can add them to the list. This is not a 'secret' newsletter. At the same time, I'm not going to 'spam' people. So, hopefully, you'll find this series helpful and informative, and if you don't, just say the word.  This is important: I will never advise you to do anything illegal or outside the rules set forth by your school, coaches, or others.

More about ITL: If you decide to  come aboard, our service is $29.95/month and you can cancel at any time. For as long as you're a client, you will have full access to me for questions about the recruiting process; about specific agents/agencies; the all-star game and/or NFL combine process; combine training; or anything else, and all confidentially, of course. However, this is the cost of the membership. In case I haven't mentioned it, the newsletter is FREE. Got specific questions? Send them along and I'll try to address them best I can. Wanna be taken off this list? No problem; just reply to this email. In the meantime, I look forward to working with you.

Now, let's get going.
