Triad Tri Team Newsletter
APRIL 2018

From the President

We've had a crazy February, but it hit us good right when we needed it for the Northeast Duathlon. With great between season weather, we had a great first race of the 2018 multi sport season, with over 20 TTT members participating in our first TTT race series race! It was a great turnout, and I hope everyone that came out as a competitor and volunteer had a good time!

Since then, the weather has been like a rolercoaster, but leading into Febrary we're finally starting to get some consistent weather for training and we're looking to take full advantage of it. We've got several open water swims available between TTT suporters Hal Boyle of Triad Eco Adventures and Mary Roach, both offering open water swim opportunities for TTT members. Keep your eyes on the TTT Facebook page for announcements and event invitations so you can participate, or contact Mary Roach for an invitation to her swim group for additional notices from her. Be sure to follow all of the rules and guidance provided by our hosts to keep the swims safe and fun for all involved, and sign any requested waivers and sign in sheets before hopping in the water so we can be sure you get out safely after the swims are done.

In addition to those open water swim practices, we also have several other opportunities coming up in April that you can take advantage of. First off is our monthly meeting on Apri 13, where we have partnered with our sponsor Fleet Feet to host a local multi sport athlete panel! This will be a great opportunity to engate with the local multi sport race community, hear about the journeys of some local multi sport athletes that you've probably seem at some local events, and to have a chance to ask your own questions to them! Second is an opportunity for a swim clinic at the High Point Swim Club on the morning of April 21, where you'll be able to take part in an hour long swim clinic and get some individual pointers on your stroke and techinique. And third will be several opportunities to ride and run the Belews Triathlon course and NEST Triathlon courses leading into those races.

We're looking forward to seeing many of you at these events and training opportunities as we work our way into the 2018 race season! Don't forget to choose the TTT as your club affiliation when you sign up for Trivum Racing and Ironman races so that we can make an impact as a team in their multi sport racing points series'!

Arlene Barbosa!

Meet Arlene Barbosa! Arlene has such great energy, when you see her she is smiling and always encouraging. Which is great since she is a fitness instructor as well as active triathlete. Not new to the sport, Arlene has participated in triathlon for 8 years, and has a bucket list goal of HIM in Puerto Rico!

If you see Arlene, tell her congrats on being our Athlete of the Month!

See more about Arlene here:

For our April team meeting, we will be joining Fleet Feet for a panel discussion and Q&A with three local athletes from the Triad area! Fleet Feet will be hosting the panel at their Lawndale location, which will consist of a 45 minute guided discussion followed by a 15 minute Q&A period where you'll have a chance to ask these athletes your questions. This panel will be open to the public, so if you've got friends who are interested, feel free to bring them along as well.

Keep your eyes open for additional details about the panelists, as well as a post for asking questions to help us guide the direction of the discussion.

The panel will start at 7:15, and Q&A will end at roughly 8:15. Try to be there around 7 so that we can be in our seats and ready to start the panel by 7:15.

We hope to see you there!

Tuesday Night Social Runs have been going on, go out and join them at where Payless Shoes used to be, to run down the greenway. ALL PACES WELCOME!

This month's Sponsor Spotlight is TeamIndure!

What is teamindure?
We are a group of athletes that have come together to honor those close to us that are running races with long term health issues.

Why teamindure?
We have the ability to allow you to customize gear that can used for training or race day. For those that are looking to participate in a relay we can bring all those individuals or charities together on 1 shirt. This shirt acts as a reminder that each mile completed by the team has a greater sense of purpose.

How to be involved with teamindure?
TTT membership entitles you to 10% off merchandise purchased through our store www.theiissilent.com. For those interested in Official Race Tats we will be selling them prior to each local triathlon at packet pick up. Cost is $5 for TTT members. $10 Non Members. If you are in need of tats for an out of town event, please email me at [email protected]

Ragnar Trail- Carolinas
We excited to announce we have received special VIP pricing for Ragnar Trail - Carolinas on Oct 5-6th. The code TEAMINDURE18 is good for all Ultra and 8 person teams. We would love to grow our presence at this event. Please feel free to spread the code to others that may be interested. Using code does not obligate you to race under the teamindure umbrella, but it will allow us to receive future gear and registration discounts which we will be happy to pass along.

For more information on how we can help your team visit our 2017 teamindure Ragnar Trail Relay Team - "THE I IS SILENT" including our partner charities.
