Your Goal is Too Big
Many years ago there lived a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who was in charge of a lot of people. One day, along with his Chief Operating Officer (COO) he announced a huge project. In fact, it was gigantic.
He assigned his twelve senior managers to come up with a plan to make it happen. The CEO gave the senior managers about five weeks to come up with a game plan to achieve the CEO's plan.
During the five weeks the senior managers did a lot of research to find out how to make the plans, of the CEO, a reality. At the end of the five weeks the senior managers held a meeting with the CEO and the COO as well as all the people in their organization.
Ten of the senior managers said that the, gigantic, goal of the CEO was too big. It was impossible to take on such a challenge. Two of the senior managers spoke up and said that they could achieve the goal and much more. Here is where it turned bad.
The CEO, COO and senior managers held the meeting in front of the people in their organization.
The people heard the bad opinions, of the ten senior managers, and ignored the good report of the two remaining senior managers. This triggered panic in the crowd.
The crowd began to complain against the CEO and COO saying that they wanted to go back to living a life where they had guarantees instead of this "insane" goal put forth by the CEO. Panic set in.
Most people, like 80% or more, have a very limited imagination
. There are some conversations that the majority of the "tribe" (the organization/family/team/company) does not need to hear.
What should have happened is the CEO, COO and the senior managers met in private and came to a, unified, agreement. This did not happen.
The majority, most of the time, are louder than the minority. It's up to the minority to hush the majority so the majority can see the vision of the minority.
Eventually, the CEO's goal was achieved but he had a lot of trouble convincing most of the people, in his organization, that it was possible.

The majority of people will not see the potential in your endeavors. The majority will try to talk you out of it.
Your ability to see through the mass of negativity is critical if you want to overtake what's promised to you
.
Years ago I read a story that has taken on various forms. It goes like this: "There is a tale about these two shoe salesmen who travel to a third world country in search of new business opportunities.
One man calls his wife the moment he lands, telling her, "Honey, I'm coming back home. There's no hope here. Nobody here is wearing shoes, so there's no one to sell to." He boards the next flight home.
The second man calls his wife and says, "Honey, you wouldn't believe what I found here. There is so much opportunity. No one here is wearing shoes. I can sell to the whole country!"
When people tell you your goal is too big they cannot see what you can see. Most people, in fact, will not see what you see because of their point of view. Seth Godin writes, "Change the outcome by changing (those in) your circle."
You have all the resources to accomplish amazing things in life. Never believe the majority. Believe the few who believe in you.
I Believe in you!
