April got underway with a lot of momentum and it will continue into this week with several exciting special events on the calendar. Please take particular note of our monthly PTSA and SAC meetings as well as next Saturday's Science Boot Camp.

Thank you again to all of our very creative and talented students, their dedicated teachers, and our supportive parents for another incredible production of Knight at the Living Museum. For those community members that were able to attend, I know you will attest to what an educational and inspiring evening it was. We could not be more proud of these students (pictured very top).

I think you will enjoy this week's update as we have shared a sampling of the many positive academic and extracurricular activities our Knights have been engaged in. Thank you for your ongoing involvement and best wishes for a successful week ahead.

In Knights Honor,

Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.

NGSSS Science Assessment, Review, and Saturday Boot Camps

The Next Generation Sunshine State Standards Science (NGSSS) Assessment will be given to ALL 8th grade students on April 30th. This assessment will test students' knowledge of Science Standards from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The 8th Grade Science Team has administered an NGSSS Pre Test to each 8th grade student. The Pre Test results have allowed us to determine which standards to target for review.

In addition to the 3 week review for ALL students during the regular school day, the 8th Grade Team will be offering Saturday Science Boot Camps on April, 14 and April, 21. Invitations will be sent to the parents of specifically targeted students. If your child did not receive an invitation and you would like them to attend have them contact their Science teacher and we would be glad to include any student.

Parents, if your child brought you an invitation, please attend to this invitation and sign your child up for the Saturday Science Boot Camps!

We look forward to seeing each of our invitees at the Boot Camps and being able to offer them the extra help needed to do their very best on the NGSSS Science Assessment.

Knight Sports
2018 Track & Field Teams

Our defending County Champions opened up their first track meet with a big win going up against Meadow Woods and South Creek.

Zane Durant placed 1st in the shot put, throwing 45' 7" and Malachi Perkins jumped a 15' 8" to get our boys team off to a good lead during field events. Zachary Jones had a tremendous debut for the Knights placing 1st in the mile and the 800m. Omar Lopez also had an outstanding evening placing in all 4 of his events. Our boys team showed a lot of depth in many areas. Keep up the great work gentlemen.

For our Ladies, Anaya Brown placed 1st in all four of her events (Long jump, 100, 200, and 4x100 relay). She broke her own school record in the 100m, running it in 12.29 during Wednesday night's meet. Gianna Celeste placed first in the mile and Delaney Richgels was only two seconds behind her, claiming the second place spot for our Lady Knights.

Our track coaches have really been pushing our student athletes physically and mentally day in and day out. It was evident in our first meet.  This track team has excellent work ethic and we are excited to see what the rest of the season has in store for our Knights!

A huge thanks to all of the volunteers that helped assure our first home track meet ran smoothly.

Our next meet is Wednesday, April 11th at Walker Middle School against Walker and Freedom!

Go Knights!
