World Elephant Day is August 12th
Help EAI Finish the Fence

World Elephant Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of the numerous issues that face elephants, including the hardships captive-held elephants experience. Elephant Refuge North America (ERNA) will be a safe place where elephants can recover from past traumas and develop healthy bonds with caregivers and other elephants.

Before we can bring elephants into the refuge, we have to finish the Elephant Fence. We're excited to announce that construction is already underway, but we have a long way to go.

The Elephant Fence will take approximately three months to complete, and when finished, will consist of 29,500 feet of seven-foot high posts with three horizontal strands of half-inch galvanized cable. This specially designed fence costs $14 per foot or $412,000 in total.

We are currently fundraising for the Finish the Fence Project. Please consider contributing to this campaign as a wonderful way to commemorate World Elephant Day, whether by donating $14 per foot of fencing or $60 per fence post, and help us reach our goal, foot-by-foot!

The sooner we build the fence, the closer ERNA will be to opening this elephant-paradise to occupants!

Wish List Pick of the Month:
Front-End Loader for the Tractor

Hundreds of these posts need to be removed at ERNA.

Here at Elephant Refuge North America (ERNA), Big Blue has become our dependable go-to for the most strenuous jobs. This workhorse of a tractor is essential for our habitat restoration; pasture mowing and general clean up. Big Blue now, however, faces a job that he can't do alone! Hundreds of wooden fence posts, installed by previous owners for cow fencing, need to be removed from the property.

To accomplish this project, Big Blue needs a Front-End Loader. This new equipment will allow us to utilize the different attachments needed for our work, including a hay bale spire, bucket and forks.

Please help us purchase the Front-End Loader, this month, for Big Blue so we can continue preparing ERNA for elephants. To read more and to follow our progress raising funds for this campaign, please click HERE.

Update from Last Month's Pick

Thank you to everyone who assisted us with last month's need! Because of your generosity, we were able to purchase the mower we needed to keep the fast-growing grasses, as well as the snakes that love the knee-high grass, at bay. Thank you to those who contributed and spread the word to make this purchase possible!
