'A Soup Opera' coming to
Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series

The Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra and Mead Library will present a sing-along version of Jill Gill’s award-winning children’s book, “A Soup Opera,” as part of the Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series at the City Green.
The performance, which will feature members of the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra and the Sheboygan Symphony Chorus, will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16.
"A Soup Opera" tells the story about a man, a bowl of soup and the man’s comically frustrating quest to eat that soup.

The book, which features illustrations from Spanish artist Dani Torrent, tells a heartwarming story about a father's love and the power of affirmation.

From Word to Mouth
Mead's "From Word to Mouth" series continues on Tuesday, Aug. 14, with a visit to the
Millhome Supper Club in Kiel.
Learn about the featured cuisine beforehand with recommended reading and then meet up to sample and discuss with fellow food enthusiasts.

The Water Poems
In celebration of Lake Michigan Day, join us for a reading from "The Water Poems," presented by the Lakeshore Natural Resources Partnership, with support from Mead Library.
The event includes readings by Sylvia Cavanaugh, Nancy Durdin, Dawn Hogue, Maryann Hurtt, Georgia Ressmeyer and Marilyn Zelke Windau. The program emcee will be Lisa Vihos.
There will also be short presentations from the Friends of North Point, Friends of Peace Park, Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership and the Sheboygan River Basin Partnership.

New expanded hours begin in fall!
Mead Library will feature expanded hours starting in September.
The new schedule, which was designed around peak service times, bus schedules and community feedback, includes more summer hours and earlier opening times.
The schedule is also more consistent, as the library hours will now change just twice a year, instead of four times.
NEW HOURS
September - May
- Mon.-.Thurs. - 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Fri. & Sat. - 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sun. - 1 to 5 p.m.
June - August
- Tues., Thurs., Fri. & Sat. - 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Mon. & Wed. - 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunday: closed

Remember to claim your Summer Reading rewards
Kids can pick up their Summer Reading Program rewards in the third-floor Children's Library anytime during regular library hours.
Rewards are earned for every five hours of reading or being read to. Rewards include a free book, restaurant coupons, a yard sign, museum passes and more!
And remember, grand prize drawings will be held in early September, so don't forget to log all of your reading hours. The more you read, the better your odds of winning.

Tinker Time, featuring self-guided open studio time in the Imaginarium. Explore Adobe Creative Suite 6, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, LilyPad, Makey Makey, littleBits, LEGO Mindstorms, 3D printing, jewelry making, collage, yarn crafts, precision cutting, sewing, button making, t-shirt pressing and more.

KIDS
LEGO Club, kids in grades K-6 can build a new LEGO project monthly, from 10-11:15 a.m. in the Children’s Activity Room, on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Kids Craft Corner, featuring make-and-take craft projects on a drop-in basis from 1-2 p.m. in the Children’s Activity Room, on the following Wednesdays:

Back-to-School Bingo, kids in grades K-5 can play bingo for prizes at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 22, in the Children’s Activity Room.
