Introducing our Interim Pastor
Dear Saint Mark,
It is my pleasure to announce that the Interim Search Committee (ISC) has chosen the Rev. Dr. Scott W. Wilson as our interim pastor. After careful deliberation and prayerful discernment, it was clear that Scott was the best choice for Saint Mark. Scott is currently the interim pastor at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church. He has Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and has been a pastor for over 24 years, specializing in interim ministry for the last seven of those. Scott will begin with Saint Mark on February 15, 2020 and lead his first worship services on February 16th. We look forward to working with Scott as he leads Saint Mark through this transitional period and helps us prepare to call our next installed pastor.

Thank you to the members of the ISC, Megan Coval, John Hagner, Lyn Hill, Audra Kelly, Stephanie Laguna, and Sharon Shoemaker for their excellent work reviewing applications and conducting interviews. Thank you to Shelby for taking the time to participate in the final interview stage. Thank you also to the entire congregation for your prayers and patience as the ISC worked through this process.

Peace,
Greg Carr, Elder for Personnel Ministry

Help Saint Mark Daily Create a Daily Lenten Devotional
Hi friends! The Lenten season will soon be upon us (Ash Wednesday is Feb 26). We would once again like to create a book of daily devotionals to accompany you as you prepare your heart for Jesus's death and resurrection, but to do so WE NEED YOUR HELP.

How will it work?
- You sign up to participate.
- We will assign a short passage from the Bible for you to read.
- You will write or draw a reflection on this passage/how God is at work in your life (not to exceed one half page) and a short prayer.
- These readings, reflections, and prayers will be our daily devotional for Lent. They will be available online and distributed Ash Wednesday/first Sunday of Lent.

This is an activity for Saint Markers of all ages and can be completed by individuals or together as a family, Sunday School class, or a small group.

To sign up to participate, please see Jenn Carr after service this Sunday or email or text her at at  [email protected] or 412-708-4101.

New option for giving online
Saint Mark is partnering with the  Presbyterian Foundation as a new, cheaper online giving option and we are encouraging all online donors to switch by February 1. In fact, by switching completely from PushPay (the current method) to the Presbyterian Foundation, the church will save more than $3,000 per year.

If you are a current PushPay user, there is a two-step process to switch:

1. Login into  PushPay and cancel your future payments.
2. Go to the  Presbyterian Foundation donation page (also accessible via the church website) to begin a new recurring donation.

The Presbyterian Foundation provides savings in two ways. There is no monthly fee, and transaction costs are 33% lower:

If you need help switching, please contact Rob Pergament at

Pledge envelope boxes are now available in the narthex for those who are regular envelope users. Please pick them up at your earliest convenience.

Please return your financial pledge or giving commitment.
The Session depends upon your pledges to construct the 2020 budget. Please return your pledge or your giving commitment this Sunday or bring to church office.

Womens Retreat: Practice Sabbath, Feb. 21-23
From Genesis to Revelation, our scriptures mention Sabbath over 170 times. Join the women  of Saint Mark as we explore the ways Sabbath influences our faith, impacts our personal well-being, and makes space for us to be who God created us to be. We will have prayer, study and most of all, time for fellowship and rest. To register and for questions, email Pastor Shelby: [email protected]

Per Capita
As you know, 'per capita' is Latin for 'per person'.  Did you know our church pays a per capita or per member, contribution to the presbytery each year to share the expenses of the presbytery, synod, and General Assembly for ecclesiastical purposes?  This year our apportioned share was over $12,000 or $41.73  per member.  You can help by contributing $41.73 per member.  There is an envelope included in your packet for this purpose. Checks can be made to Saint Mark with 'per capita' noted on the memo line. Online contributions should be noted 'per capita' as well. Remember that is $41.73 per member, not per family, but does not include children who are not members. Thanks to all who have already contributed. Questions can be directed to Tom Prelovsky. The finance ministry thanks you!
