HYDE PARK, NY -- The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum -- as part of its Goodman Initiative for American Youth -- will host a public forum
"What It Means to be a Good Citizen" on Saturday, April 14, 2018. The program begins at 1:00 p.m. in the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home and will include audience participation. This discussion will be moderated by
Dr. Melissa Gaeke, Director of the Center for Civic Engagement and Leadership at Marist College.

The Goodman Initiative for American Youth at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum provides educational programs for students aged 8-13 for the purpose of promoting productive civic development and engagement based on American democratic values. The initiative is based on the belief that investment in the students of today is the first step towards building the citizens of tomorrow.
Dr. Melissa Gaeke is Director of the Center for Civic Engagement and Leadership at Marist College. She was previously the Executive Director of Academic Partnerships from 2010 to 2014 at the University of Southern California. In that role, she created and supported partnerships between USC's civic engagement programs, the research of the University's academic units, and community stakeholders. She was involved in documenting and growing USC's civic engagement efforts. From 2003-2010, Melissa served as the Director of the USC Volunteer Center, where she was responsible for implementing a variety of community service and service learning programs for undergraduate students. Melissa began her career in New York City where she held a variety of leadership positions at Jacob Riis Neighborhood Settlement, a mid-sized social service agency in Queens, New York.
