 TOPIC:

Human Trafficking is a form of modern day
slavery and is a crime against humanity.

A multi-billion dollar criminal industry that denies freedom to millions of people around the world. And no matter where you live, chances are it's happening nearby. From under-aged girls forced into prostitution at a truck stop, to the man discovered washing dishes in a restaurant kitchen, stripped of his passport and held against his will, to undocumented
workers forced to clean guest rooms at a resort hotel... All trafficking victims share one essential experience: the loss of freedom.

Approximately 300,000 American children are forced into slavery through domestic minor
sex trafficking. Pimps and predators are constantly prowling the streets and social media looking for unsuspecting victims, who are usually easy to spot. Human Trafficking is the second largest criminal industry in the world after drug trafficking, and is the fastest
growing. Victims of human trafficking may suffer from physical and psychological problems because they are often forced, or coerced, into dangerous conditions. Education is the key when it comes to recognizing, investigating, responding and assisting with the prosecution
of human trafficking cases.

CLASS OBJECTIVES:                                                                                                                                             This One-Day Class is designed for Law Enforcement Personnel, School Resource Officers, NGO - Service Providers, Victim Advocates, Medical Professionals, Faith-Based
Organizations and anyone interested in learning more about this horrific crime. The
primary focus of this class is to provide an understanding of the origins, methods of operations, and indicators associated with the trafficking of human beings that create big profits for the traffickers. Human Trafficking includes forced labor, domestic servitude,
sex trafficking, and domestic minor sex trafficking. The class will acquaint law enforcement personnel with the importance of a victim-centered approach to the investigation and
rescue of victims and the importance of a collaborative effort between law enforcement
and social service providers and the criminal justice system to ensure a successful prosecution.

The class instructor will use PowerPoint and Video and provide handout materials
for each student.
