Governor Cuomo Announces Almost $1 Million in
Lake Ontario Flood Relief Funding

Governor Cuomo announced that the towns of Greece and Parma in Monroe County received more than $942,000 to restore and rebuild following last year's Lake Ontario flooding. The funding is being used to reimburse emergency costs as well as rebuild and fortify the infrastructure to protect communities from future damage. New York has committed $55 million to recovery efforts to support homeowners, small businesses, and community infrastructure.

said, "Under Governor Cuomo's leadership we are providing the tools and resources to Lake Ontario communities to help them in their recovery from last year's flood and prepare them against the danger of rising water in the future. New York State stands with the 113,000 residents of Greece and Parma."

HCR Commissioner Visnauskas attended the grand opening of an $18 million affordable housing development in the City of Rye in Westchester County, providing 41 apartments for residents ages 62 and over. The newly constructed four-story
Vienna Senior Apartments
are 100 percent affordable, and feature 28 one-bedroom apartments and 13 two-bedroom apartments.
Commissioner Visnauskas said, "Vienna Senior Apartments will provide seniors who are often burdened by rising housing costs with an affordable option while strengthening the local economy and creating a more cohesive and diverse community in Rye. Governor Cuomo continues to lead the way forward in protecting seniors and ensuring all New Yorkers have an affordable place to call home.”

The ground breaking for
Sydney House
took place on March 22nd in the Bronx. This development will create affordable homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income households.
The Habitat for Humanity-sponsored
development will consist of 26 one-bedroom apartments, 23 two-bedroom apartments, and seven three-bedroom apartments as well as a shared 2,000-square-foot recreation space.
Sydney House will be the largest multi-family development ever built by a Habitat for Humanity affiliate.

Governor Cuomo announced the ribbon cutting for
The Lofts at University Heights
in Buffalo. The $16 million Better Buffalo Fund project repurposed a vacant 73,000-square-foot public school building into 44 loft apartments. The Lofts are available to working families, including residents working in the city's downtown area or employed at the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

said, "The adaptive reuse of this long vacant former school into high-quality, affordable homes is another step forward in the revitalization of downtown Buffalo. The Lofts at University Heights is the latest demonstration of how we renew neighborhoods and increase housing opportunities."

Governor Cuomo announced the ribbon cutting for
The Alexandre Apartments
in downtown Buffalo. The project, part of the Better Buffalo Fund, featured the conversion and historic renovation of a vacant 19,530 square foot, seven story building in Buffalo.
Formerly the Loew's Theatre Warehouse, the 1920s concrete structure was converted into new commercial/retail space on the first floor and 12 market-rate, loft apartments on floors two through seven. The building is the tallest building in the local preservation district that has seen a wave of reuse projects in the last five years, including new apartments, restaurants, commercial space, and even owner-occupied residences.
