Student hopes to start orofacial pain clinic in Nigeria

Nnamdi Anosike will never forget the 12-year-old patient he examined at a Nigerian dental clinic a few years ago. "The agony on her face, every day I see that,'' remembers Anosike. The girl was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, a rare disorder that results in chronic pain of the mouth and face. Anosike hopes to some day establish an orofacial pain clinic in his homeland to help patients like her.  LEARN MORE

As the only Indian child in her small New Hampshire town, and later, the only Indian student in her class at the University of Vermont, Megna Senthilnathan sometimes questioned her decision to pursue a pre dental education. She wondered if it would land her in yet another environment where no one had a background like her own and few shared the experience of being a minority student.
