Good Afternoon:

There are two new rules we want to alert you about where comments are being sought from our membership:

1)  On June 15th, I sent a Member Alert giving an update on the FMCSA Lease and Interchange proposed ruling.  This past week, American Bus Association (ABA) has asked us to get our Association Members involved with submitting comments, in the form of a letter, regarding the Lease and Interchange proposal.

  • They have provided a template of the letter.  Please click here to download the letter.  The letter requests an extension of the July 31 date for comments as well as requests for regulatory text so the industry understands how to respond to the proposed rule.
  • Once you download and complete the areas that are highlighted in yellow, please mail it to the addressee, Ms. Daphne Jefferson, and/or upload your letter under the COMMENT NOW link on the upper right-hand side of the their website. Click here to link to the website.

Thank you ABA for providing this information in an easy format for us to participate.  I have submitted a letter on behalf of our Association, as well.

2)  Fellow GNJMA Member, Anthony Terranova of M&S Parking, contacted me this past week regarding a proposed New York City (NYC) Traffic Rule impacting our industry.  The amendment recommends to relocate the DOT penalty schedule to Chapter 3 of Title 34, but more importantly, it significantly increases the fines related to the bus industry including a number of Intercity Bus Permit System violations. Specifically, fines for five violations increase from $500 to $2,500 for the second and subsequent offenses (occurring within six months).

  • Please review the excerpt here for more information.  Instructions for comments can be found within the document.
  • Deadline for comments is Monday, July 31st.
Thank you for your time and we will continue to monitor and keep you updated on these important issues.

Sincerely,

Pattie
