Greetings CASC'ers,
CASC wishes you a great start to the month of April!
As a reminder the CASC Office is now located in suite 3640 of the School of Social Work Building.
To get to our new location, take the elevator to the third floor, and take a sharp right turn into the second wing, formerly the International Institute.
Additionally, don't forget about all the awesome events we are putting on before the end of the semester like our
CASC Community Connections on next week April 10! It's a great for current CASC students to engage with MSW students, faculty and other community partners. For more information check out the event description in the CASC News section of this newsletter.

Students must submit a petition found on the CASC website to enroll in SW 300, 305 (section 1 & 2), and SW 401.

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW). This means you are able to apply to the school as both as junior and senior. Additionally, students will mark a "CASC Preferred Admissions" box on their application that will be taken into account in the decision making process. For admission criteria and more information visit the preferred admissions

London Course on Community Action
The focus of this course is on multicultural issues and community action in contemporary London. It's a good experience for students to learn how issues of race, ethnicity, gender and other identities relate to social justice in a different society than the USA. This course will take place May-June of 2018. Learn more.

Arab Heritage Month 2018
Arab Heritage Month on campus began its celebration February 17 and will conclude in mid- April. The events this year will focus
on broadening the conversation about inclusion and exclusion, with the hopes of engaging in dialogue about the nuances of language, culture, and geography. For a full list of event times and descriptions visit MESA's website.

Join Spectrum Center's Programming Board for a two part Self Care Fair centering around the LGBTQ+ community and promoting self care time for all individuals

U-M Humanity First Presents: Gala for Guatemala
The gala will feature an array of speakers including both experts and students at the University of Michigan covering topics in public health The proceeds will go towards Women's Health Camps in Guatemala with a mission to treat and educate women on issues such as nutrition, pregnancy, domestic violence and mental health.

Mark My Worth
Mark My Worth will be showcasing the initiatives that The Women's Organization on Rights to Health (WORTH) organization has spearheaded this year in hopes to offer inspiration to as well as unite community members. This event will be hosting several empowering speakers and interactive dialogue regarding women's health and wellbeing as well.

Health Equity Research Conference: Wayne state University
This conference is dedicated to promoting health equity through discussion. The conference focuses on the impact of discrimination on health. Both graduate and undergraduate students alike are welcomed to present their research in all related fields.

Out of the Darkness at U of M
OOTD is a suicide prevention organization on campus and they are looking for volunteers for their second annual OOTD Campus Walk on
April 8
.
Volunteering entails helping to set up, clean up, guiding the walkers, serving food and drinks, and much more. Volunteers can choose which task/shift they prefer, and will also be able to participate during the walk. Every volunteer will receive a free OOTD volunteer shirt. Please note that volunteers are required to attend one of three orientations at the beginning of April.Learn more.
Yom Hashoa We Will Never Forget
Every year, to honor Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), SHARE (Students for Holocaust Awareness, Remembrance, and Education) hosts a 24-hour long vigil in the Diag, where they continuously read names of those who perished during the Holocaust. SHARE is looking for student volunteers to read out names during the 24- hour period.

Forever Go Blue Program Grant
Are you or your organization eager to put on a fundraising event for your cause? A grant of up to $700 available to student groups that plan to promote philanthropic thinking, inspire collaboration around altruistic endeavors, and fundraise for charitable projects that benefit U-M.
