The winning combination of specially developed, print-rich classrooms, engaging sensory activities, and early childhood professionals create excitement and wonder at every turn. Learning is a joyful experience at GPS; yielding results that lay the foundation for a child's future educational and personal success. Our popular Stay & Play and Extended School programs continue the learning through play for children up to 3rd grade and provide nurturing care from 7:30am-6:00pm. Annual events, such as the Art Show and Spring Sing, showcase the talents of our students, Specialists and dedicated staff.

Kathy Sestak

Lead Teacher, Kindergarten

Kindergarten is Kathy's favorite grade to teach - and GPS is her favorite place to teach it! She came to Golden Pond School with extensive teaching experience in both the public and private school systems in Clark County, Nevada, Sullivan County, Tennessee, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties in VA. Kathy has taught Preschool, Junior Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, First and Fifth grades and is endorsed to teach Preschool - Eighth Grade. Continuing education classes help Kathy stay current on academic advancements.

Recent News

The Golden Pond Parent Group provides families with numerous opportunities to plan, organize and implement wonderful events that benefit not only the families and staff at GPS but also the surrounding community. Meetings are held monthly at various restaurants and new ideas always welcome! Events include the Cider Stand in October, the Thanksgiving Food Drive and Mom's Apple Pie fundraiser in November and the Holiday Shoppe at Golden Pond School in December, where a child can purchase any item made by a GPS parent or teacher for $5. The Parent Group also hosts a Family Fun Night at a local business, a special occasion where dinner is provided, giving all family members a chance to gather outside of the school setting. Golden Pond Spirit Wear is purchased through the Parent Group and can be worn throughout the school year, promoting great camaraderie among staff and students! The Parent Group also coordinates "Art to Remember" with the Art Specialist; creating wonderful keepsakes that are unique to each classroom. Teacher Appreciation Week in May find the Parent Group showering the grateful staff with breakfast and lunch goodies along with many other surprises. Golden Pond School is so fortunate to have this fantastic group of parents who value service to their school and community.
