Greener Futures Together
Tree Trust's Green Futures program uses the power of individual donors and volunteers to plant hundreds of trees in communities in need.  Planting trees is more important than ever, as emerald ash borer threatens to destroy 2,000,000 trees in just the Twin Cities metro!  Communities need help to mitigate the loss of so many trees, and that's where the Green Futures program comes in!

What We're Doing to Fight Emerald Ash Borer
Tree Trust has been adding trees to the urban environment for more than 40 years. We were founded to combat the loss of trees due to Dutch elm disease in the 1970s; today, we're planting trees to help mitigate the damage done by the emerald ash borer. We plant a variety of species to emphasize the importance of species diversity and minimize the likelihood that pests or disease can eradicate a monoculture of a single tree species - as happened with the elms, and we're now seeing with the ash trees.

We couldn't do our important work without supporters like you. Last year, more than 600 volunteers helped plant and distribute over 3,000 trees across Minnesota! We are able to add so many trees to the urban environment thanks to partnerships with local municipalities, concerned residents, corporate sponsors, and generous donors who support our Green Futures Fund.
Meet Gordon, Tree Trust Branch Manager
Gordon Hanson is what we call a Branch Manager- a specially trained volunteer who guides groups of new volunteers through the tree planting process during our tree planting events. Gordon has been planting trees with us for more than 15 years, and over that time he's helped volunteers plant hundreds of trees across Minnesota.

Gordon's reward is watching the sense of joy new volunteers get at our events. "When volunteers get a chance to dig a hole, get their hands in the soil, and water a newly planted tree, they feel a sense of ownership for that tree. I think planting trees is a bond that strengthens their connection to both nature and the community. That's a feeling they will carry with themselves for a lifetime."

Brackets for Good is over, and we wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped us get to Round 4! Our final round was against the Ronald McDonald House, the winners of the 2017 tournament. 

We never imagined we'd have such a show of support from our donors, board, volunteers, and staff. Your support carried us all the way to the Engaged 8. To everyone who helped us surpass our goal, truly, thank you. 

If you'd like to keep following  the tournament, the final Championship ends on April 6th. Our Green Futures fundraising campaign will continue through the month of April. 
See the Lorax this Spring!
Dr. Seuss' beloved tree-tale is coming to the stage at the Children's Theatre Company for the United States premiere of   The Lorax beginning April 15. A favorite story of our staff, Tree Trust is thrilled to partner with CTC to bring you special opportunities to see The Lorax during its Minneapolis run.
