A Note from Mike Griffith
Dear Ratner Families,

The year started with a solar eclipse and a visit from an ice cream truck. It ended with a visit from an ice cream truck and two spectacular events. The Kindergarten Celebration saw our young students achieve an important milestone, crossing over the bridge as they enter 1st Grade. We then enjoyed the 8th Grade Graduation, where our graduates spoke with grace, pride, emotion, and laughter as they shared with the audience the deep sense of community they built in their time at Ratner. Our graduates are heading off to new horizons at Beaumont, Shaker Heights High School, Hawken, Andrews Osborne Academy, Hathaway Brown, University School, Beachwood High School, Hershey Montessori School, and Littleton High School. We are so proud of their accomplishments!

In between the first and last day was a whirlwind of a school year, with lessons taught and learned, a robotics throwdown competition, an amazing gala, frisbees flying, soccer fields and basketball courts, strategic planning, VIP Day, a fall festival and book fair, PenOhio and the Academic Challenge, and so much more. Throughout all this, we worked together to celebrate successes and resolve challenges, with smiles and laughter along the way. I can’t thank all of you enough - our dedicated staff, parents, and hard working students - for helping to make Ratner such a special place.

The theme for the student speeches at graduation was "This is Me." The graduates told us about their journey to become who they are now and who they hope to be. Well, this is us! The Lillian and Betty Ratner School, a living and thriving school community, dedicated to empowering our students to find joy in learning and to become their best selves. We have had a fantastic school year, and we are poised and ready to continue the good work of educating our amazing students, working side by side with you, our caring families and supportive friends of Ratner.

May the summer months bring you many opportunities to relax and share time with families and friends. For those students who are moving on to continue their education in a new place, we hope that your time here has helped you to grow and has prepared you for great success in the future. This summer, I hope that students will continue their learning as they read, play with friends, and explore the world around them. Here at school, we will be cleaning and polishing, planning and organizing, and getting ready to begin the next steps of our journey. Enjoy the summer break!!

Best,
Mike
