BioNJ's Statement on the
Prescription Drug Affordability Board Proposal

BioNJ fully supports the important goal of lowering Patient costs, however, policies should result in meaningful savings for Patients at the pharmacy counter, and not impose innovation-stifling price controls. The proposal to create a Prescription Drug Affordability Board, while well intended, would lead to drug shortages and reduced access to lifesaving medicines. An Affordability Board will put access to medicines in jeopardy and cannot be implemented effectively.

BioNJ supports proposals that improve, not reduce, access to innovative therapies -- such as recent legislation to cap out-of-pocket drugs costs. We look forward to working with the sponsors and the NJ Legislature in developing effective solutions that avoid price controls and provide greater cost relief for Seniors...and for all Patients.
