Come to toast HOM as it celebrates 4 years in the 'Ville' this month - plus their new beginnings, expanded product assortment, and new artisans and makers. Shop handmade product from 10+ local artisans. Kids will create birthday cards for Cradles to Crayons. Live music from Swarthmore Farmers Market beloved duo, Bethlehem & Sad Patrick (7:30-8:30 pm). Sweet treats from Summer J. Artisan Pops. All are welcome (pups too!). Plus meet the Swarthmore Farmers Market team and learn more about the 2018 season and volunteer opportunities at the market.

Breathe Om Yoga

Compendium

Wine Not? is a low-key event featuring some of owner Emily Scott's favorite wines for you to sip while browsing new Spring styles and mingling with friends, both old and new. Hobbs Coffee

It's an annual tradition at Hobbs: The Hot Dog Jamboree! An all hot dog menu designed by favorite chefs in the area. Don't miss it!

Houseplant Hospital

It's the return of the Build-Your-Own Birdhouse workshop! Cedar provided by DelCo Supply and hardware from Swarthmore Hardware.  Eastern/Western Bluebird, $35.

Indigo Healing Arts Collective
110 Park Avenue, 6-7 pm 
Come as you are, let loose, move, and breathe during this slow flow yoga class. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Students are encouraged to bring a mat, otherwise mats will be provided. $15. Pre-registration is required. Reserve your space via email at [email protected]

A new exhibit entitled "Art of Nature" presents the captivating artwork of Rinal Parikh. The public is invited to an Opening Night Reception in Swarthmore Borough Hall where they can meet and mingle with the featured artist.

Volunteers Needed: Town Center Cleanup Day

Swarthmore Town Center is proud to partner with Mayor  Tim Kearney  and the Swarthmore Borough Council in the Great American Cleanup of PA. To volunteer for a specific task, please visit our SignUp Genius.

DATE: Earth Day! Sunday, April 22  (Rain Date = Sunday, April 29)
TIME: 12-4 pm
LOCATION: Meet in the Central Park Amphitheater for instructions and to break into work groups.

Please wear clothing that is appropriate for your assigned task. Be sure to stick around or come back after the Cleanup because at 4 PM we'll culminate the day with a music performance by the Swarthmore Ukulele Orchestra and BBQ featuring Good Boy Burgers from Hobbs Coffee. It's the perfect way to officially welcome Spring to the 'Ville!

Book It! 5K Run/Walk
April 7
Helen Kate Furness Library and Swarthmore Library invite you to the second Book It! 5K Walk/Run to celebrate our libraries and communities. The point to point course starts at 9:30 in the morning at the Wallingford train station and ends at the Swarthmore Library. There will activities for families at Central Park in Swarthmore and an awards ceremony. This is a fun event for the whole family!  Click here to register online .

Eco-Arts Fair
April 8, 3:30-5:30 pm 
Join the  Swarthmore Community Center  for a series of kid friendly crafts and learning experiences about environmentalism. Young artists will receive a reusable tote bag to decorate and will create up-cycled art projects to take home. Representatives from environmental organizations such our local  Chester Ridley Crum Watersheds Association  and the Environmental Protection Agency will share information about how to be more environmentally frien dly. Local businesses, such as  The Creative Living Room Harvey Oak Mercantile , and  Houseplant Hospital  will facilitate art activities about helping the environment.  This event is FREE and sponsored by the Swarthmore Community Center Board. The projects will be best suited for children ages 10 and under.

Food Truck-a-Thon
April 20, 5-9 pm
The  Food Truck-A-Thon  is back at the Swarthmore CO-OP and it's bigger than ever! A variety of food trucks and vendors will be on hand for patrons to enjoy amazing food and drinks. For a list of food trucks and vendors, visit the CO-OP's website

Poetry Reading by Joseph D'Orazio

April 4, 7 pm
Joseph Dorazio began writing poetry in 2007. Since then, his poems have won awards, and appeared in over 30 literary magazines in the U.S. Joseph Dorazio's first two chapbook collections were finalists in poetry competitions, and in 2009, his poem, "The Tree of Life" was set to music by the composer, Eleanor Aversa, in response to the Dialogues with Darwin Poetry Project, at the American Philosophical Society Museum in Philadelphia.  Mr. Dorazio lives and writes in Wayne, PA.

Food For Thought Cookbook Club
April 5, 4 pm 
Do you love to cook and try out new recipes?  Join the Food For Thought Cookbook Club where participants meet the first Thursdays of the month to share and feast on cooked delicacies from recipes in the cookbook on display at the Swarthmore Public Library. Browse through the cookbook, pick a recipe and enter your name and chosen recipe at the back of the book. Then bring your prepared dish for sharing at the meeting.  

Spring Book & Bake Sale

Sponsored by the Friends of the Swarthmore Public Library, the Spring Book & Bake Sale offers a diverse selection of hard-cover and paperback books for all ages. This season's sale features an especially large collection of fiction for teen readers, sports books, nature field guides as well as sheet music, games, and puzzles. 
 
The "Booktique" upstairs features beautiful coffee-table books, rare books and other unique items priced to sell, including many DVDs and CDs. Booktique items are also half price on Friday and are included in an incredible "$20 a bag" special on Saturday.

Artwork by Rinal Parikh on display in Swarthmore Borough Hall. 
On Display: "Art of Nature"

"Art of Nature" presents the captivating artwork of Rinal Parikh, on display in Swarthmore Borough Hall from March 29 through April 22. 

Rinal Parikh's art reflects the heritage and vibrant culture of her native India. She draws on a childhood fascination with color and composition, portraying spontaneity and energy with saturated color in various media. "I believe in always improving myself, learning from every stage in life and from nature. I love incorporating several mediums into my art, and es pecially love Indian folk art.-Madhubani from Madhubani district, Kalamkari from Andhra Pradesh, Warli from Maharashtra."

In addition to the Opening Reception on First Friday, Rinal will discuss her art on Wednesday, April 11 at 10 am in Swarthmore Borough Hall. 
Volunteer with Compeer

Located in Swarthmore Town Center, Compeer of Suburban Philadelphia is in the business of making friends. The program recruits and trains caring volunteers  in Delaware County and matches them in one-to-one, same gender friendships with people in mental health recovery.  Compeer uses common interests to create good, solid, long lasting matches.

Skip the line by placing your deli sandwich order through the Swarthmore Co-Op websiteOnline orders can be fulfilled from 8 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday and 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday. Please allow 20 minutes for sandwich preparation. Grab a drink, pickle, and a bag of chips and breakfast/lunch/dinner is served. Yum!
