Don't miss the impactful and timely stories, including
KimTalk: The Imbalance of Power
presented by IWL CEO, Kim Graham Lee

Kim Graham Lee gets  upfront and personal regarding  the movement to openly discuss  and deal with harassment.  She shares her own story of  harassment in her career and her  impactful chapter over a decade  ago as a mom focused on bringing  attention and solutions to the  problem of bullying when her  son became the target of bullies.  Kim took action as a mother  and a professional and lessons  learned from that experience  offer guidance for how we can  better manage the imbalance of  power and truly create a culture  of respect.

Featuring an IWL Foundation Breakout Session

"Own Your Own Unconscious Bias"
presented by Diane Bailey-Boulet, IWL Board Member

"We all have unconscious bias; it doesn't make us bad, it makes us human." As humans, we all develop and carry some level of bias that stems from mental shortcuts but ends up affecting the way we see the world around us. Instead of shying away from our biases, we must face them head-on, looking introspectively to recognize where they come from so that we can overcome these barriers to progress.

In this IWL created workshop, you will learn:
  • The roots and triggers of unconscious bias
  • The effects of bias on our interactions in the workplace and how to  recognize it
  • How unconscious bias can lead to gender bias
  • Ways to manage your bias to be more effective in professional and personal relationships
Check out our blog post, written by Louisville speaker and conference co-emcee  Jeff Nally, about why women AND men benefit from this day of personal and professional development.

Equal Pay Day was originated by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996 as a public awareness event to illustrate the gap between men's and women's wages. It signifies the day that women have to work to in the new year to make the same amount that men did in the previous year.

In 2017, women in Indiana made 74 cents to every dollar a man made, and in Kentucky, 82 cents to the dollar. We know that this isn't the way it should be, and we have the power to fix it. Keep an eye out for upcoming IWL events this summer, including "Community Conversations" aimed at bringing the right people together to break down barriers like equal pay that women in the workplace are up against. Together, we can make a difference!

Our theme for April is " Better Together" in honor of our upcoming Louisville conference. What a timely theme with the groundswell of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement. Being better starts with each of us looking at ourselves, understanding who we are and the gifts/talents we bring. We are each on the way of becoming the best version of ourselves. We can all support each other - women helping women, men helping women, women helping men, men helping men. Be intentional this month by  getting together with a coworker, friend, or family member, and deciding on three ways you can advocate, serve, and encourage those around you. Focus on being better together with optimism and courage.
