PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Everyone,

This week, our question of the week is on school safety. With recent events this year, our student-led school walk-out and the more recent, "Walk for our Lives", the subject is very much in our thoughts. BSD last month held a School Safety Informational session. We have asked them to present this at our April 25th General meetingAs a PTSA, we as parents and members are looking to see where we can fit in on this subject and assist where needed.

At the state and national level, I expect this to become a key question and possibly one of our legislative mandates as School funding was and still is. How this conversation will turn out is a developing effort. Asking the questions and listening from all participants is a great start. Please take a moment to take our question of the week survey and engage with us in the comments how you see this issue developing or becoming a goal for the safety of our students/teachers and the school.

Best,
Meribeth Nordloef-Pedersen

SAT SUMMER PREP CAMPS AT TYEE MIDDLE SCHOOL

There is a local opportunity to take a 1 week SAT prep camp this July at Tyee Middle School (for students entering grades 8-11).

Wise Camps (a non-profit) usually offers academic (mostly science & math) camps for younger campers, but last summer we had so many requests for an SAT Math camp, we offered one and it was extremely popular. So this summer we decided to add an SAT English camp as well based on camper and parent requests.

The SAT camps will be offered the weeks of July 16-20th and July 23-27th. More details and registration information are at www.wisecamps.org.
