Development in King of Prussia Isn't Slowing Down
Get ready for new corporate headquarters, beautiful building makeovers and a diverse mix of multi-family residential

King of Prussia has experienced a huge evolution in the past few years with the completion of several major development projects. The momentum is still pushing forward.

The explosion of development and redevelopment in the Township validates the claim that KOP is, now more than ever, THE place to be for businesses , residents and visitors!

One exciting project is Brandywine Realty Trust's redevelopment of an existing five-story, 100,820 SF vacant office building at 500 N. Gulph Rd. Improvements include reskinning the entire exterior, and the addition of atriums, amenity spaces and about 3,000 SF of office space. Brandywine also has plans to build a 100-space parking garage behind the building.

King of Prussia Mall announced last week its plans to invest millions of dollars in renovations of what was formerly known as the "Plaza" section of the mall. Improvements include replacing tiles, adding new lighting, replacing fixtures, renovating the restrooms and upgrading the seating corridors.

An additional project in the works is Valley Forge National Historical Park's upgrades to their visitor center. The $14M+ project includes a complete overhaul of the current building, which has not been updated since 1976. Once complete in late spring of 2020, the 18,376 SF visitor center will have improved physical accessibility, upgraded security and fire protection, improved collections storage, new HVAC systems, new windows, new finishes and energy-efficiency improvements. New exhibitions can also be expected.

King of Prussia continues to add to its impressive dining options with two new restaurants expected to open in 2018. Eddie V's and J. Alexander's are both currently under construction and opening this spring and summer, respectively.

An influx of multi-family residential development continues. The recently announced Skye 750 will feature 248 one- and two-bedroom apartments for rent in the King of Prussia business park, making it a true live/work center. Also announced was Woodfield Valley Forge, a 320-unit luxury apartment community coming to 580 S. Goddard Blvd. at The Village of Valley Forge. Currently under construction are Hanover King of Prussia, a 339-unit ultra luxurious apartment complex, identical to and located across the street from Hanover Valley Forge and Park Square, 320 luxury apartments at 751 Vandenburg Blvd., both expected to open this spring.

Current development projects are just a precursor for what the future will hold. King of Prussia Rail is on the horizon, with the planning stage well underway and the Locally Preferred Alternative officially accepted last fall. This transformative and important project will spur even more exciting development opportunities.

Road Diet Open House
Learn about the First Avenue Road Diet at an informational session this month

King of Prussia District (KOP-BID) and Upper Merion Township (UMT) are eager to start the First Avenue Road Diet this spring! The Road Diet is a transportation improvement project that will make First Avenue safer for motorists and pedestrians. The project will reduce the number of travels lanes to one in each direction and create a dedicated center turn lane for vehicles to enter when turning left. More great benefits include ADA-approved curb ramps at American Ave. and Allendale Rd. intersections and dedicated bike lanes on both sides of the roadway.

This roadway configuration is used in many communities around the country and creates a safer travel experience for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. Construction is expected to begin later this month. Join KOP-BID for a public information session and open house to learn about the project on Wednesday, April 4  from 1-3 PM at the Freedom Conference Center, 1st Floor, 630 Freedom Business Center Dr. A second information session will be held on Thursday, April 5, during the Board of Supervisor's Workshop at 7:30 PM in the Upper Merion Township Building.

If you are unable to make either public information sessions or open house, please email us for more information.
