COME SING WITH US!
Are You
A
Choral S
inger?
Why Join the Choir?
It's good for your health
Studies have shown how
choir can improve your health - it's fantastic brain food. Brain game exercises are all over the place with the Nintedo 3DS or sudoku. Well why not start keeping your mind healthy by making music?
Here are a few things you'll see improve with choir
- Multi-tasking - you've got to watch the conductor, keep an eye on the music and know when to come in
- Memory - you've got to sing by heart sometimes
- Focus - concentrating for an hour on a performance
- Math - Yes, you've got to count!

The Presentation of Our Lord
Luke 2:22-40
When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, the parents of Jesus brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male shall be designated as holy to the Lord"), and they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."
Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Messiah. Guided by the Spirit, Simeon came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the law, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying,
"Master, now you are dismissing your servant in peace,
according to your word;
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles
and for glory to your people Israel."
And the child's father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, "This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed so that the inner thoughts of many will be revealed-- and a sword will pierce your own soul too."
There was also a prophet, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped there with fasting and prayer night and day. At that moment she came, and began to praise God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
When they had finished everything required by the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

King's College Cambridge 2011 #7 Angels from the Realms of Glory |
Angels from the realms of glory
Wing your flight through all the earth
Ye who sang creation's story
Now proclaim Messiah's birth
Gloria In excelsis deo
Gloria In excelsis deo
Shepherds, in the fields abiding
Watching o'er your flocks by night
God with man is now residing
Yonder shines the infant light
Gloria In excelsis deo
Gloria In excelsis deo
Sages, leave your contemplation
Brighter visions beam afar
Seek the great desire of nations
Ye have seen His natal star
Gloria In excelsis deo
Gloria In excelsis deo
Though an infant now we view him,
He shall fill his Father's throne,
Gather all the nations to him;
Every knee shall then bow down:
Gloria In excelsis deo
Gloria In excelsis deo

--Deuteronomy 10:19
Letter to Grace Church:
All of us at the Berkshire Immigrant Center wish to extend a hearty thank you to everyone at Church Church for your support, on behalf of the hundreds of clients we serve annually. Your significant donations to BIC these past few years have truly made a difference for our work. Since the Center is not a membership organization, we do not have a pool of donations we can count on each year. And unlike our area's many wonderful cultural institutions, we don't have a season of events to generate ticket sales. We do, however, have staunch allies in our community: people who get it. People who value the many ways immigrants enrich our lives and the life of our region. Thank you for being among the strongest of our allies in this work.
Thank you for recognizing the value of the services that the Berkshire Immigrant Center provides. Thank you for backing up your words of support with truly remarkable financial donations.
Your generous donations in 2019 helped the Center serve more than 700 clients in our offices. More than 40 students participated in our free citizenship preparation classes. We presented or tabled at more than 20 workshops and events, spreading the word about the importance of supporting our immigrant neighbors, colleagues, and friends. In our last fiscal year, 27 of our clients attained US citizenship with our help.
The Berkshire Immigrant Center remains the only organization in Berkshire County dedicated solely to serving the unique needs of local immigrants. Thank you, Grace Church, for helping to build the Center up and keep us strong, so that we can better fulfill our mission.
Please take a look at the attached fact sheet highlighting the Center's recent efforts.

"CHANGE THE BABIES"
Please put your loose change in the jar that will be at the Welcome Table.
This money that is insignificant in our day-to- day life is life-giving for these babies and those who care for them.
It costs about $1500 a year to support a baby and the Diocese's goal is for one congregation to support one child for those years.
Everything you give will go to support babies at the Mampong Babies Home in Ghana.
