April 2018 Newsletter from the Figaro Owners Club - Issue No: 97
|
Good Morning ,
Welcome to our April 2018 Newsletter and a very happy Easter to you.
Unfortunately we kick off with some not so good news, so lets get this out the way first. After some long and painful soul-searching, we have decided to
discontinue publishing Figgyworld. The reason is simply lack of content. In such a small club and with very limited resources (just me), maybe in hindsight it was always going to be an uphill challenge to keep the copy interesting & eye catching. On a positive note, I am extremely proud of the 12 editions that we produced over the last 3 years, and indeed our Award for most improved club magazine at the NEC in 2015. We have a similar issue with this
Newsletter and so from this month this will now be published
6 times a year: January, March, May, July, September & November.
Moving on and at last, after what seems like the longest winter in the history, Spring is at last on its way. Not sure what you think, I always get the impression our little Figgy 'Belle' just loves sunshine and being warm (like Sue). Last week it was so nice to get her out the garage for some 'pre-season polishing'. As a club, we are always being asked, what are the best products to use to clean parts of the car, like the roof, seats, carpet, chrome etc? So I decided to make a short video and share some of my experiences and a few helpful tips along the way.
Watch now
Having seen over the years, images of the
London to Brighton Veteran Car Rally
(which celebrated the passing into law of the Locomotives on the Highway Act back in 198 raising the speed limit for 'light locomotives' from 4 mph to 14 mph and abolished the requirement for these vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot). I have always fancied participating in this prestigious event but unfortunately there was never any chance of doing it in a Figaro - until now! On the 3rd May, 250 vehicles (manufactured before 1993) will be taking part in the London to Brighton Classic Car Run and Sue and I will be there in our Figaro. We will be reporting on the day and plan to make a short video too! Read more

The Worldwide Figaro Owners Map
Ever wondered how many other people own a Figaro near where you live? Now you can get a 'rough idea' by looking at the
Worldwide Figaro Map. It shows how many figs are in your area and sometimes a picture (but only if they have added their information in the first place).
We are supporter of this initiative, however a note of caution when adding your Figaro
do not provide any private information. Just the town is sufficient

My son Daniel in June 2008
|
About the club
How the club started
My son Daniel had always wanted a Figaro, having seen the car at our local garage when he was just 16. After saving for a number of years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad) he brought an Emerald Green model in June 2008.
Following the purchase we scoured the internet for a members club in the hope that we could attend events with other owners, but were amazed that none existed...and so the Figaro Owners Club was born! We decided to build a website and forum which took 6 months, and on the 1st March 2009 we pressed the 'publish button' and waited to see if anyone wanted to join. Within a week we had 10 members, a month 35 and a year 478 members.
Today the club has around 1,300 members worldwide in countries including New Zealand, Japan, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and many more.
We are grateful to you and all our other members for help and encouragement throughout our journey as the club has grown into a passion which has taken over our lives - we FIGure in a good way.
Warmest Regards
Kevin
