As part of its environmental stewardship and its educational outreach, the Earth & Spirit Center partnered with the Sheltowee Environmental Education Coalition and the Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District to construct two of the largest urban wetlands on the Center's 21-acre property in the Highlands.
Wetlands provide significant ecological benefit, from enhancing the health and diversity of plant and animal species to filtering storm water runoff. These wetlands will also serve as a "living laboratory" for educational programming, allowing Center participants and local schools and colleges to have hands-on learning experiences.
Meet at the Undercroft Conference Room for presentations and then walk to the wetlands.

United Crescent Hill Ministries Building, 150 S. State St.

Tom Barnett is a native of Louisville and has recently retired from commercial photography. His interest in photography began in earnest as a hobby while serving in the U.S. Army. His commercial images have appeared in numerous catalogs, brochures, annual reports, advertising, and web sites. His personal work has twice been published in Digital Photographer magazine and his high-speed images have been featured in the DIY Photography blog.
Currently, Tom is teaching commercial photography courses at Jefferson Community and Technical College and serves on the Student Portfolio Review Board. As often as possible, he pursues his interest in nature and bird photography.

Active Hope: How to Face the Mess We're In
Earth and Spirit Center, 1924 Newburg Road, 40205
This experiential retreat facilitated by Marilyn Stoner explores how to evoke creative, compassionate and transformational responses to the crises of our time. It will follow Joanna Macy's creative empowerment approach to eco-justice and social justice issues through her elegant small group processes practiced and developed over the years throughout the U.S. and all over the world. Joanna Macy, a respected voice in the movements for peace, justice, and ecology, has been interweaving spirituality with activism for over 50 years.

Exploring the Wisdom and Landscape of Your Dreams
Earth and Spirit Center, 1924 Newburg Road, 40205
Discover how your dreams offer a vision and a revelation
that can inspire and guide you to a deeper life.
Nightly, dreams offer the conscious mind access to an inner wisdom that is both personal and universal. This unconscious underworld realm is a reservoir of unrecognized feelings, skills, perceptions, thoughts, habits, hidden phobias, concealed desires, and inherited experiences.
This workshop - using body, nature-based, and experiential exercises - will guide participants through a process of uniting the conscious and unconscious minds so that their original unique promise might be fulfilled. By re-entering and immersing ourselves in dream time together, we will invite the deeper realms of our human psyche to lead us toward an encounter with the deep inner wisdom of our souls. This powerful approach can help us find direction, uncover forgotten or buried parts of ourselves (shadow), and offer guidance for positive personal change.
* Learn how to remember the "visions of the night."
* Explore how to work with dreams and come to
a fuller understanding of their rich meanings.
* Wake up to a source of guidance, healing and creativity beyond
the reach of the everyday mind.
* Experience a holistic approach to conscious dreaming with
the aims of psychological growth and self discovery.
