Active Golf Season starts April 15
Some new and familiar faces .......

Golf Saskatchewan has some new faces joining our team starting April 16th and May 1st. 
The complete team includes:
  1. Angela Kuffner, Executive Assistant. Angela previously worked with Sask Sport Inc. as the receptionist.  Angela started March 26th, 2018. 
  2. Steve Ryde, Manager of Sport Development & Championships. Steve is a PGA of Canada SK Zone Class A golf professional and independent business owner. He will begin his tenure with Golf SK starting April 16th. 
  3. Clark Stork, Director of Communications & Marketing.  Clark has been working with the Jim Pattison Broadcasting Group and has covered local, provincial news and sports across various communities in Saskatchewan.  He is also active covering SJHL Hockey. Clark will begin his tenure with Golf SK starting April 16th.
  4. Candace Dunham, Manager of Member Services.  Candace is starting year 11 with Golf Saskatchewan.
  5. Tyler Buffalo, Summer Intern. Tyler is rejoining Golf SK as a summer intern starting on May 1st.  He is continuing his education in the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan with a major in accounting. 
  6. Tanner Gerwing, Summer Intern.  Tyler is a new summer intern joining Golf SK and will start on May 1st.  Tanner is completing his first year at the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan.       
  7. Brian Lee, Executive Director. Brian is continuing his 15th year with Golf Saskatchewan. 
On behalf of the entire team, we look forward to providing the top level of service to our member clubs, members, participants, volunteers, sponsors/partners, media and everyone who is a golf enthusiast. We will provide a group photo in an future issue of ON PAR.

Masters Golf Pool - $5,000 first prize ... 


The Saskatoon Rotary Club and Golf SK are proud to present the 2018 Masters Golf Pool.

Entry fee is $25.

Pick 2 players from each column and the team with the highest money total will be crowned the 2018 Masters Golf Pool Champion.  

Update: The Americans column became smaller as Brooks Koepka withdrew due to a wrist injury.

Deadline is April 4th, 2018 at 10:00 AM Saskatchewan time.

2018 Championship Schedule
The following events have Provincial Titles as well as potential qualifying spots for National Championships.  

The events are as follows:
  • June 29-Jul 1, 100th Amateur Women's, Harbor GC & Resort (4 spots)
  • June 29-Jul 1, 55th Senior Women's (50+), Harbor GC & Resort (4 spots)
  • July 9-11, 68th Junior Women's (U19), Moonlake GCC (4 spots)
  • July 9-11, 92nd Junior Men's (U19), Moonlake GCC (4 spots)
  • July 17-19, 107th Amateur Men's, Dakota Dunes Golf Links (9 spots)
  • July 17-19, 32nd Mid-Amateur Men's (25+), Dakota Dunes Golf Links
    (13 spots total but 3 will be made available for the Mid-Masters)
  • July 24-26, 99th Senior Men's (55+), Golf Kenosee (5 spots 4 SR + 1 SS)
  • July 24-26, Mid-Master Men's (40+), Golf Kenosee (3 spots from Mid)
Notes:
  1. A person who competes for a provincial title, in the events above, is not obligated to go to nationals.
  2. Eligibility - only Golf SK members can earn a quota spot for nationals.  
  3. A player from outside of SK can compete for the overall title, but will not earn a spot to nationals.  She/he must compete in the province they reside.

LPGA Event - CP Women's Open coming to Wascana CC ... 
 
August 20 - 26, 2018

Canada's National Women's Open Championship has traditionally featured one of the strongest fields on the LPGA Tour vying for a total purse of $2.25 million USD, one of the largest purses on tour. The CP Women's Open welcomes the top players on the LPGA Tour including CP golf ambassadors Brooke Henderson and Lorie Kane and fellow Canadian Alena Sharp, along with past champions and LPGA stars such as Lydia Ko, Ariya Jutanugarn, So Yeon Ryu, Suzann Pettersen and Michele Wie.

Volunteers Needed!
Each year over 1,200 people contribute their time and energy to volunteer at the CP Women's Open. We are so thankful and fortunate to work with such a hardworking group of people each and every year. Registration fills up quickly, so be sure to get your volunteer registration in early.

Volunteers are required to work a minimum of four (4) shifts totaling (24 hours) during the week of August 20-26, 2018.

As with any LPGA event, there is a cost to volunteer. The cost of the volunteer package for 2018 is $75. With this fee you receive a volunteer package worth over $300. Included in this package is:
  • Official volunteer shirt and head-wear
  • Volunteer badge (provides grounds access when volunteering/spectator)
  • Transferable weekly guest pass
  • Weekly parking pass and shuttle service (volunteer lot)
  • Volunteer bag with discounted concession prices in the volunteer tent
  • We are now accepting volunteers for the 2018 event.
