Workforce development

First annual CTE Jamboree held by CMMA

More than 100 attendees participated in the CMMA Career and Technical Education (CTE) Jamboree on November 21 at Albany High School . Patrick Walsh, superintendent of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa School District and new CMMA board member, coordinated the Jamboree. Walsh saw this opportunity as an effort to bridge the gap between education and industry in preparing youth and young adults for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers.

Grant awards

CMMA Education Sponsorship Program is pleased to report grants totaling $8,494 for applications received in 2019. Funds were awarded to ten K-12 schools in the region to support educational programs and projects that expose young people to manufacturing and fabrication.

The 2019 recipients were: Albany Area Schools, Apollo High School, Becker High School, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Melrose High School, Princeton Intermediate School, ROCORI High School, St. Cloud Technical & Community College, St. Michael-Albertville High School, and Upsala Area School.

For applications receiving grants to date in 2020, $4,250 has been given to three schools, one sponsorship in support of the manufacturing sector of EPIC 2020 (a career exploration event on February 28), and sponsorship towards the VEX Robotics Competition.
