CHAMBER DAY AT THE CAPITOL
For the January Leadership Southside session, the class traveled to Richmond to participate in Chamber Day at the Capitol , tour the Virginia State Capitol Building and meet with legislators.

Chamber Day at the Capitol is hosted by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and provides an opportunity to hear from bi-partisan panels of senators and delegates about the most pressing issues affecting the Commonwealth's business community.

A special thank you to Delegates Danny Marshall and Les Adams for sharing dinner with the class, and also to Senator Bill Stanley's team for visiting with the class at the Capitol.

LEGISLATIVE CORNER

Last week was crossover week in Richmond, and the House of Delegates and the
Senate have sent their respective bills to the other body for consideration.

RIGHT-TO-WORK
Our key focus this legislative session has been preserving Virginia's current
Right-to-Work law. We are pleased to report that efforts to repeal the
current legislation have been stopped, which is critical for the
continued success of our business community.

MINIMUM WAGE
Two key bills related to minimum wage in Virginia have advanced in the
legislative process, SB7 and HB395 .

BILLS WE'RE WATCHING
The Virginia Chamber of Commerce also advocates for its more than 26,000 members during the legislative session, and soon will be posting its 2020 Legislative Priorities. Stay tuned for updates to their “Bills We’re Watching” page for their positions on bills important to Virginia’s business community.

If you have questions about the Chamber's legislative priorities or how you can get involved,
contact Chamber President & CEO, Alexis Ehrhardt, at aehrhardt@dpchamber.org or 434.836.6990.
