Announcing NPX Science Fair!


A Qualifying Event for the Arizona State Science and Engineering Fair

Great Hearts North Phoenix Preparatory Academy is pleased to host a school-wide Science Fair for middle-school and high-school students.

This competition gives students the opportunity to present and display an original scientific investigation on a topic of their choosing.
The Science Fair is sponsored by the Science Department and will be held on the NPX campus on March 4th. Students may enter a project in one of a number of categories that span science, mathematics, and engineering.

There will be an opportunity for friends, family, teachers and classmates to view projects on the day of the Fair. The Science Fair is open to all Prep students
(grades 7 to 12).There is no fee for participating, but submittal of a registration form
is required. Each project must be approved by the Organizing Committee. Awards will be presented to the winner of each category and the grand prizewinner. Category winners will advance to the Arizona State Science and Engineering Fair.

Registration Procedure
1. Get a registration form online or obtain a copy from your science teacher.
2.Complete the form and have it signed by a parent or guardian.
3.Submit the signed registration form to your science teacher or Dr. Cort.

Track and Field Info Night
Track & field season is almost here! Join us on Monday, January 27 th from 6pm-7pm in the Prep MPR to learn about the upcoming season.

All 5 th through 12 th grade students and parents that are interested in the upcoming track season are invited and should attend this meeting.
It is going to be an exciting year for both
our MS and HS teams!

Senior Action Plan

SENIOR THESIS (Deadline Jan 27, 2020)
Dr. Avery emailed the following to all seniors earlier this week:
Please note your next Senior Thesis deadline is January 27, by which time you should have met with your advisor to receive feedback on your complete draft. It is important that your advisor receives the draft in plenty of time to read it and that you also schedule the meeting in good time to work around busy schedules. Please instruct your senior to reach out to Dr. Avery at

LUMBERJACK Scholars AWARD (Feb 10, 2020) Deadline!
This is a reminder that Lumberjack scholarship recipients need to identify themselves so that they can get their mid-year transcripts from College Counseling and then submit them to NAU prior to Mon Feb 10 , 2020. Once your 7 th semester transcripts are available, the senior students eligible for the Lumberjack Scholars Award MUST email their document directly to LJSCHOLARS@NAU.EDU .

Juniors received their PSAT/NMSQT exam booklets and score reports earlier this week with the hope that your son or daughter would correct their exam mistakes in preparation for the SAT college admission test. As they quickly approach SAT School Day on March 25,2020, please help your student prepare by utilizing some of the resources in this attachment .

ENGINEERING Week at GCU (Feb 17 – 21, 2020)
Grand Canyon University wants to inspire the next generation of engineers and encourage student to explore engineering as GCU is hosting a design competition to allow students to engage directly with engineer concepts. January Lunch Menu and Updates

There will be 3 areas to purchase food.

  • Inside the MPR, the “Hot Lunch of the Day” window.
  • Next to the vending machines- the “Snack Shack.” At this location- items such as bagel and cream cheese, fruit, yogurt, chips, and a favorite Arizona iced tea!
  • Outside in the Courtyard you will find the Hot Dogger Cart. At this location-all grab and go items such as meatball subs, corn dogs, and chicken shawarma.

Lunch time is longer each day! And because it is later in the day, we now have access to the Gym! On Mondays and Thursdays, Middle School students will use the gym. On Tuesdays and Fridays, High School students will use the gym. The gym will not be available on Wednesdays. January lunch menu available HERE .
