Annual Meeting & Brunch  
 
The Annual Meeting will take place this Sunday, January 26 in the church immediately following the 9:30AM service. We will be honoring retiring Vestry members Phil Krone (Senior Warden), Erika Kreisa, Erwin Mayer, Claudia Montgomery, Scott Peters.
  • Election of new Vestry and Jr. Warden
  • Presentation of the final 2020 Budget
A buffet brunch for everyone follows in the McClain Room.
2020 Vestry Nominations
 
The Vestry Nominating Committee has selected the attached slate of Parish Members to our Annual Meeting who are eligible and willing to serve as Vestry Members to take the place of those Vestry Members whose terms will expire at the January 2020 Annual Parish Meeting. 
Movie for Children During Annual Meeting 
 
Parents, during the Annual Meeting presentation this Sunday (10:30-11:30AM), Megan and Melissa will be showing a movie in the Lea Room for children age Kindergarten and above. For younger children, the Nursery will be open. After the Annual Meeting is over, children are invited to the brunch which is for everyone.

Evensong This Sunday, January 26 at 5:30PM
 
Our Youth and Adult Choirs will be singing some beautiful music in preparation for their tour to Nashville next month. After Evensong, you also are invited to a delicious dinner upstairs in the McClain Room. We'd love to have you with us!
Holy Caffeine is Cancelled This Week Friday, January 24

This discussion group meets Friday mornings from 8:30-9:30AM in the Lea Room. Christopher Powell leads the group in the study and discussion of scripture.  All are welcome! For more information, contact  Christopher. 
First Friday Potluck - Feb. 7 - 6:00-8:00PM
 
This monthly event is entirely social-an informal time to get together and enjoy the company of other church members. February's event is hosted by Regan & Nikos Christopoulos at 1320 Linden Avenue in Highland Park. Bring a dish to share and they will provide beverages. On the same evening, First Friday Faves is happening for 5th-8th graders from 6:00-7:30 at Glo Golf in Vernon Hills. Please contact Megan for details.

"The Long Shadow" - Special Screening
Sunday, February 9 - 3:30 -5:00PM
This stirring movie follows two southern filmmakers as they trace their southern roots.Their journey reveals how the shameful legacy of slavery provides context for our country's current struggle with racism. The movie has a PG-13 rating and includes difficult images.Afterwards, we encourage you to allow yourself time to enjoy the service of Taizé at 5:30. 

Complimentary childcare will be provided in the Nursery from 3:15-6:30.

Taizé Service 5:30PM - Sunday, February 9
If you are in need of an hour of quiet prayer and meditation, please join us for a time of grace and peace. This candlelit, contemplative service will include readings, prayers, and silence interspersed with tuneful chants accompanied by violin. We'll be holding Taizé services this coming season on the following second Sundays of the month at 5:30PM: March 8, May 10. (Taizé will not be held on April 12 - Easter Sunday)

Attention Parents with College Students!
 
In February, Soul Fuel - our high school youth group - will be sending "Cupid's Cookies" in care packages to college students in celebration of Valentine's Day. If you haven't yet given Megan your college student's updated mailing address this year, please do by Tuesday, February 4!

7th Grade Confirmation Meeting  Monday, January 27
 
We come together to take a deep dive into the book that reveals all things Episcopalian - the Book of Common Prayer. We will use it in prayer and explore its contents with collage. Please let [email protected] know if your family can provide a dessert! We are also looking for parents to help us serve PIZZA for dinner. We meet from 6-7:30PM in the McClain Room at the church, 784 Sheridan Road, Winnetka.
"Confirmation 2.0" Meeting
February 2 @ 11AM
 
Ministry Architects will lead us through an analysis of our current Confirmation Program and a consideration of how we may enhance it for the future. If you have experience with or opinions on the Christ Church Confirmation Program, we would love you to be a part of our "Confirmation 2.0" planning meeting!  All parishioners - including parents, mentors, and high school youth - are invited! We will meet on Sunday, February 2 from 11AM to 12:30PM at 784 Sheridan Road, Winnetka. Lunch will be provided, so please let  Megan  know if you plan to be there and have any dietary requirements.  
Soul Fuel - Cupid's Cookies for College Students

For our next Soul Fuel meeting we will be creating Valentine's Day care packages for our over 40 college students! We will decorate cookies, make Valentine cards, and assemble the packages. Click here for the Sign-Up Genius for the baked goods and care package contributions. We will meet on Sunday, February 9 at 4PM at Alison Walker's house: 859 Sheridan Road, Winnetka. Soul Fuel is our high school youth group that meets the second Sunday of every month. Friends are always welcome!

What will we do? Where will we stay? Who will be on the trip?

  • Our Rector, Christopher Powell, and Director of Youth Ministries, Megan Miller, with adult chaperones.
  • Other volunteers from around the country sharing our work week.
How much does it cost?
  • The registration fee is $685 and covers all expenses for the week.
  • Scholarship funds are available and confidential. Megan will be happy to talk to you about this option! We do not want the cost to be a barrier for anyone to attend.
