March Seminar Series event: Infusing Fun into the Workplace While Getting Stuff Done!

Are you open to instilling a little fun into the workweek to build team camaraderie - which could ultimately increase productivity?
Have you already instituted fun into your work environment but want a few fresh ideas for team building?

Happy employees are good for business! Join us March 10 from 2-3 p.m. in the Pioneer Room of the Memorial Union for an interactive face-to-face session! Paula Burns and Kate Goudy, Child Welfare Research and Training Project, will be providing resources to use immediately in your office and the research to back up their claims that fun in the workplace is beneficial and necessary to achieve successful outcomes.

Did You Know? Winter weather tips and info from FP&M

Did you know? In this time of ice and snow, you can help keep Iowa State facilities safer for winter walking and driving -- and possibly make your winter commute to campus easier.

Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) is in charge of snow and ice removal on campus, but can't be everywhere at once when bad winter weather occurs. You can report a problem or concern with the
FP&M Problem Report Form .

Is driving to campus and parking during adverse winter weather a headache? During those times you're encouraged to use CyRide, which has many routes to and from campus in Ames , including free shuttles to and from Iowa State Center parking lots . There are also designated parking lots where employees can park if their usual lot isn't clear. Any valid ISU parking permit will be honored in these designated lots.

Highlighting ISU Staff: Student Counseling Services Team

This month we recognize Iowa State's Student Counseling Services Team

The team was nominated by Erin Baldwin, who said: "Student health and well-being are inextricably linked to student academic success, and the SCS team plays an invaluable role in supporting student mental health. Through their walk-in model, students are linked to services in their exact moment of need. The team continues to provide a menu of services including group therapy, workshops, individual counseling, biofeedback, career exploration, Let's Talk, and more. Being articulated in client satisfaction comments, our SCS team is helping our students improve their well-being and ultimate success at ISU! "

Congratulations, Student Counseling Services Team, and thank you for all you do!

You can nominate a fellow Professional and Scientific employee (or team of employees) for Highlighting ISU Staff! Submit your nominations using the Highlighting ISU Staff form to tell us about a P&S employee or team doing great work in your area. The form will ask you to tell us about who you are highlighting and why, in 100 words or less, and to include a picture of the person, team, or output for which they are being highlighted.

One submission will be regularly included in the newsletter as determined by the Professional and Scientific Council Awards Committee. Other submissions will be featured on social media (with the tag #highlighting ISUstaff), on the Professional and Scientific Council web page (Highlighting ISU Staff), and/or included in future newsletters.
