Registration is now open for the Maryland Assembly on School Based Health Care's 2018 Annual Conference

Early Bird registration will be open until May 1st. Register early to save $10.  Organizations that register 5 or more attendees will receive 10% off.

Howard County  Recognized during SBHC Awareness Month

In celebration of National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month, the Howard County Health Department received a Certificate of Recognition from County Executive Kittleman, highlighting the 9 school-based health centers across Howard County and the health professionals who encourage wellness in county schools.

Funding Opportunity for SBHCs from CDC

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces the availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 funds to implement CDC-RFA-PS18-1807, Promoting Adolescent Health through School-Based HIV Prevention. This  Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) can be found here.

Approximately $17 million per year is available. The period of performance is 5 years with a 12-month budget period and an anticipated start date of August 1, 2018.

The purpose of PS18-1807 is to improve the health and well-being of our nation's youth by working with education and health agencies, and other organizations to reduce HIV, STD, teen pregnancy, and related risk behaviors among middle and high school students. PS18-1807 offers an approach that includes three overall components: Component 1) School-Based Surveillance; Component 2) School-Based HIV/STD Prevention; and Component 3) Technical Assistance and Capacity Building.
 
Applications are due April 13th, 2018.
