July 1st, Canada celebrates 150 years since Confederation. It's exciting to have a national event to share with folks from coast to coast to coast.
Of course, for our American friends we also acknowledge July 4 celebrations later in the week to commemorate Independence Day.
THE BEAVER
Another significant milestone this year is the 70th anniversary of the Dehavilland Beaver. This iconic Canadian invention was instrumental in opening up the vast areas of northern Canada and continues to service remote locations. Ignace Airways acquired its first beaver in the 60s and in the 80s with sister companies operated 10 Beavers including an original 1947 Beaver; serial number 5 (C-FOBV).
To celebrate the anniversary, we commissioned a new design for our t-shirts. They have been requested from as far away as Australia, Germany and Great Britain.  Get yours when you visit this summer.
FISHING
It seems the cool, damp spring has not slowed the fishing. Reports from all the lakes are that the northern have been extra aggressive and the walleye well fed. The anglers have not been going hungry either.

Dar (pictured above) was the 'biggest northern' winner in the derby of his group of 18 anglers on Metionga Lake. We  post photos provided by our guests to our website  Photo gallery. Check it out.
LOOKING AHEAD
All but a few of our May and June groups have booked their same dates for next season. As we give first right of refusal to each group for the following year, dates for later next summer are still to be confirmed. If you are interested in a date for 2018, contact us once that date has past this year.

Have a safe and happy rest of summer. Celebrate the holidays responsibly.

Cheers.
Brad, Karen and staff.
